DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

Hey, Gents! I had to murder a dude the other night. I'm sure you've all been there yourselves. It's not something that you WANT to do, but usually they just have it coming. He sneaked into my grow room disguised as a lady, but when I saw his nuts I cut his ass, put a plastic bag over his body, and dragged him away from my ladies before he could blow his load on them...

He was Vanilla Kush, too, my favorite. Not sure how he got into a pack of feminized seeds, it wasn't a hermie, pure male. Anyway, I shot some pics and wanted you to see the root ball that Heisenberg's tea produces. I've never had such thick, healthy white roots, they almost glow from within! In one pic you can see the brown where the slime first attacked. The brown patch never went away, but all growth under it is glorious. Big fuckin' ball, too, from a plant only six weeks old...

Those roots make an awesome pain relieving balm. I use a blender to mush them up with some water and slow cook them in a crockpot with organic coconut butter. Cool and remove from the left over water like you would butter. Filter it if you want. People swear by my balm.

Really!? Fuck, I threw the root ball out. I've always thrown my roots out at harvest. Wish I had known these things, I have to do some research...

They won't get you high though. They don't contain any thc. Here is some good info on what is in the roots.

If you make tincture or balm out of green plant material, you'll know about staining clothes and well, smelling like weed. Using the roots eliminates the odor and stains. The balm is white and turns clear when you rub it on. Great for your joints........

How often does he flood? Where is the slime? Were things fine using those nutes before introducing the tea? Is there any sort of smell to the slime? Is he using the b52 as a foliar spray or in the res?

Thanks, BendBrewer! This study was interesting, albeit inconclusive. I take it that your balm is effective against pain partly because it inhibits acetylcholinesterase (AChE. Ironic abbreviation AChE causes aches :)) I liked the pic of Blair at the end (she looks like Bjork), she looks like she gets toasted :) I envy her lab job, though. I did a little more research on AChE inhibitors, and although, as you said, the roots won't get you high because they contain no THC, it seems that THC itself is a top AChE inhibitor. My mom is currently battling Alzheimer's, and I believe that the drug she takes to retard the disease's progression, Aricept, is a strong acetylcholinesterase inhibitor. I've often wondered if I should suggest that she smoke some weed to ease her Alzheimer's symptoms, I haven't made up my mind on that yet. But, it seems to me that this could mean that smoking weed may provide some protection against the disease. Wouldn't that be nice?

b52 in the res water, there was no slime in the res prior to adding but the slime has no negative odor!! x3 floods a day during lights on. slimes in the res.

I suspected the big bud or the b52, however after doing some research I didn't see any reports of big bud causing problems. I did find several cases where slime was present while using b52, but they were all using AN microbe products as well, which we already know can cause slime themselves. I would start using the b52 as a spray for a little while and see if things change, but I suspect it's fine. Did he add any housing to the res? Without roots in there many of the microbes will be unable to live even for a short time. Remember in my cloners I got slime even with tea until I added some housing. A couple big lava rocks would be perfect. Also make sure he is using maintenance doses. In any case slime has never effected my plants even when present in an ebb and flow, but it's still not normal.

Let us know.

Reading this reminded me of someone on here who was getting the slime after using the Superthrive product in their res. I was thinking that since the B52 has vitamins in it, like Superthrive, that perhaps the two products are similar in the aspect that they can cause a slime outbreak. If it is indeed the culprit, foilar feeding the plant the B52 would resolve this issue as Heisenberg stated.

I think it should be noted that high rez and bucket temps still need to be dealt with, in addition to using tea to fight slime. I was getting some control. But it wasn't until I bought a pool thermometer, and started adding frozen water bottles that I was able to see truly good results.

My water temp was 76-79 degrees with the ambient air in the room at 74 using an a/c. I brought it down to 72 and noticed a larger improvement.

Switching frozen water bottles gets old fast. I am making a chiller out of a water cooler I found on craigslist.

Thank you Heizenberg, the tea saved my mothers.
