2 airstone lift a lot of water but the water you put in is almost saturated already. No ions at a room temp and clear sky pressure, is already saturated. Now, can it be over saturated? Yes. But, as I understand it, the total switch over in the wastewater treatment from air or ladders, spray, etc to flooring is that it is the best way to keep water saturated with O2.So when they say you MUST have plenty of air pumped in the water to keep the bacteria alive, its just flat out wrong? How do you get oxygen dissolved in the water by just circulating the water with a small pump? So if i get some ZHO and aquashield in RO with a little molasses after 24 hrs its good to go? I want to try a brew without EWC im trying to find the origin of the slime multiplication. Ive always had small amounts of slime but its getting out of hand now and seems to be causing root rot.
Pump it to the surface hard enough to mound it up but not reduce the surface area by bubbles. Mass transfer needs a broad interface to be effective. This is why flooming has taken over from air bubbles in Aquariums, also.
So, it doesn't matter so much in blooming microbes but I have noticed when the stench gets away from me it seems to be in a gray scum in the foam.
So, the thing is, to experiment. It takes 48 hr to get a good bloom up, but you have the right idea. Flooming for me, makes my wife more happy with the smell.
