Dirty Weed Proof of Concept

I feel like since I have been doing the proper nutes that they are happier and more green. Its only been a few days so maybe its in my head. I started putting about a teaspoon of agave nectar in my half gallon container that I use to store the water, not sure if thats good bad or stupid... It may also just be me but I think they know when its time to "wake up." when I check on them in the middle of the day in the night cycle they are relaxed and the leaves are down, but right before lights come on, theyve already started to perk up and some of the leaves are more vertical... just something I noticed.

I was also thinking that the topped plant may just be a week or so behind the untopped plant because of all the stress of topping and LST. a few of the times the stems took quite a bit of stress, espescially the LST after flowering started. that seem about right?

I am not very good at these pictures, a tripod would be nice. or a camera that was made in the last 5 years.... but let me know what you think in regard to how much time I have. the lower leaves on the buds are started to get crystals and there is some oily residue build up on the buds. If I lightly touch them I get a stinky sticky treat on my fingers.

some of these are with lights on, the more yellow ones. :leaf::leaf::leaf:

edit;/ added a couple more with a pack of wraps and a lighter for size reference. not very big  but its my first grow and theyre not dead!

Untopped plant showing a lot of spots, I guess its not adjusting to the flowering nutes the same as the other plant.

So, I did a flush with about two gallons in the tub. While doing that, I noticed some crazy things coming out of the soil. Theyre fungus gnat larvae. The sand helped reduce the adult numbers but the maggot seem to be doing alright in there.

I mixed up some pyrethrin spray and sprayed the soil. Looking up right now to see if I can do a watering with it to kill the fucks.

also a pic of a bunch of new budsites that are popping up...

working on the cab a little today. cut four 3x5 inch slots in the bottom and running another temp test today. I cant really get my inline fan to exhaust in a straight line, but did angle the intake more towards the lights... so running temp tests now.

I went by the Gas Pipe here in Austin and saw some 150w HPS for $120. I was surprised by the size and the relatively low heat it produced. I think when I get some more money, and space, that I will invest in one of these and use the CFLs as side lighting.

just checked on my ol lady that I flushed and she doesnt look too worse for the wear. I posted a thread in the BUGS section about my gnat fly larvae but no responses yet. On another site it says that pyrethrin can be used with watering to kill the maggots. so I plan on using a pretty small dose in the watering tomorrow. Well see how it goes.

... and now the best part from The Thing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TevQS4qgE_Q&feature=player_embedded#!

edit:/ after about an hour temps are at 93. a bit lower than before the holes. I wonder if I wired my duct fan incorrectly. its almost like its blowing air both ways. I wish I knew more about electricity. Wiring up those PC fans just seems really hard to me.

hmm. stuck a bowl of ice in there and got it down to 88F. figure that the plants will cause the heat and humidity to rise about 5 degrees and 10%. so still too hot. going to start looking for cheap, quiet pc fans. maybe do 3 that each pull atleast 75cfm.

I know some of you use pc fans. any suggestions for cheap and decently powered ones?

I like in Texas and its already 95 avg out. I doubt that I will grow again til the temp gets to the mid 80s in the fall, but if I got this cabinet really kicking I could reconsider.

just about ready to give up on my current exhaust for this cabinet. the concensus seems to be that I should go with some PC fans. so now I am looking for some cheap ones that have low decibals and high CFM. I am thinking I need a total CFM of around 200-300 pulling out and one pulling in. Any suggestions?

rotated my plants and added some more side lighting. theyre in their last month right now. ordered a scope to see what I can. need to figure out what to be looking for on the trichs.

still seeing some spots on my plant thats been sick since day one. I guess its a cal/mag def thats showing or, honestly, I dont know wtf is wrong with it. hopefully water helps as thats all shes getting the next couple days.

Hey johnny I just read ur thread, man you've come a long way. Also go sooners had to thro that in. Ok I have my temps down to 81 with a spike to 85 right before a/c kicks on. I have a 20$ 65 cfm fan from the shaq. It's ac too so no 12v transformer. The things that got me the best results I'll share wit ya and believe me I been tweakin on it 4 a while. #1 best thing was aim my fan to blow right across the bulbs. U can feel the bulb and then put the fan on it for a bit and feel a crazy dif in the temp. Also the intakes. I now have 4 passive intakes and 1 active. What I did was hold my hand in front of the exhaust and close the door. When the door sealed the air flo would cut in half so I kept drilling 2 inch holes until I was happy. So after many many many dif attempts these by far helped the most. Oh almost 4got I'm running 1-70w hps 2-26w 6500k cfl's and 1-42w 2700k cfl but I have 2 of the hps in there. Can't even think about runnin both of em so the cfl's def run cooler. Well cool man hope this helps I'm subbed so if I can help just ask.

same ol same ol otherwise. put some more sand on my soil to keep the gnats away. letting them dry out some. i can see some more crystals forming on the leaves. guessing 3-4 weeks.

bro cool beats, what do you use? i use reason 3.0 for makin my beats. mostly industrial i guess, cant seem to hit that DnB beat im lookin for. i got a 13 track cd i put together, but havent done anything with it.
I am just using Garage Band right now. still looking for something that is easy for the mac. I used to use FL but its been a while. friend of mine encouraged me to get back into it. I havent made anything original in like 5 years. you should load some stuff on soundcloud or share the link. id give it a listen.

I also found this fan http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2211703&filterValue=Standard+case+fans&filterName=Type#tabsetBasic looks pretty legit. going to look around some more but for $10 and local it cant be beat at the moment. The one that you got Chain is $25 here and has lower CFM. I am over budget right now so I will probably just wait for my next grow. not sure yet.

also wanted to share this with you guys. https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/317830-150w-hps-cabinet-lst-grow.html its a 150w hps micro grow. and has made me strongly consider switching to a similar setup for later using cfl to supplement. They look shorter than mine but with about twice the amount of bud.

now I am certain that my spots are from heat. going to try and LST her a little. Leaves are droopy from drying out I think. so I watered them. May have to go through this one with just the sand keeping my gnats at bay. I plan on using it from the beginning next time, hopefully that keeps em off my back.

Looking for some AC PC fans. I found this one at Radioshack. http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2211703&filterValue=Standard+case+fans&filterName=Type#tabsetBasic its not AC but its cheap and more quiet than the AC one. but the hassle of wiring it up and finding the proper phone charger may be worth it.

a guy on my thread addressing the issue is pushing this one http://www.coolerguys.com/840556069003.html though I would like you guys' input on this.

only thing I am concerned about is the noise level. its like 48db. but it cant be any louder than the duct fan I have. shit sounds like an electric scooter in there. I put it the inline up on amazon. hopefully it sells soon and then Ill make the purchase I think.

Im gonna go look around at the prefabbed grow boxes people sell and see what I can find about their fans.

The AC in my room blows. rest of the apartment is like 75 and in here its like 85. cant really get the maintenance over here until after I chop though. lol.
