Dirty Weed Proof of Concept

After getting properly secured and the ducts taped up, I am much more confident. The setup is a little loud still, but I plan on getting some more insulation in there. Its about as loud as a larger standup fan right now. I think with the filter and the insulation it should be taken down a few decibals easily.

there is a light leak on the door and underneath where the small fan is put in underneath. will probably try to get the door to close better with tape until its not as warped or just run some tape over that small area. And a light trap for the bottom will be easy.

Running temp tests right now, hope to get the plants in there tonight.

edit ;/ oh and the cords will be tidied up after the temps are right. oh and I will be spreading the lights out more now that I have more room. This is about three times the space I was working with.

no carbon filter yet. I was going to get this febreze true air contraption but it was very bulky and its ability was kind of doubtful. I could probably stick it in my cab but it would be cumbersome. I may still get it. but the replacement filters come in packs of 3 for $8 and are 6" circles, so I may just tape it over the intake of my exhaust fan.

I have very little smell at this point. Just the plant smell, which is kind of nice as my apartment gets stuffy.
ah i see. if you get those replacement filters please let me know how they work for you. and if its febreze does it shoot out odor blocking formula or does it just take the odor away? thanks. also ive been reading on how to make a homeade carbon filter.. cheap about $40 for everything. maybe ill give it a go..

may have to go back to the drawing board. temps at 92 after being on for a couple hours. bigger intake fan may help...

I think its just a carbon filter. The filter may be scented but im not sure.

temps at 97 with no plants. it was hot as fuck in my apartment today and this was during the day. I cant imagine that running at night like I usually do will lower the temps morethan 5-8 degrees. looks like theyre staying in my bathroom for a while. reeeeeeally disappointing.

dam, that sucks!! it was looking good.
yeah. I was hopeful. theyre not doing too bad in the bathroom. just have to hope they are ready to harvest in the next month. leaving for two weeks on the 22nd and this box was going to a friends house for him to watch for that time. conundrum... I live in the south so its already almost 90 outside so I may not be able to start another grow for a few months.

Still seeing some bud growth. Not a whole lot though. My tiger bloom comes in on monday or tuesday and with that hopefully my cal-mag def goes away and I see some size increase.

I think I may not top the next grow, unless the tiger bloom really adds to the colas on my topped plant. the untopped plant has bud sites all the way up the stem. Hopefully they show up in this pic.

Havent given up on my cab just yet but will need to put in some critical thinking after finals to figure something out. too bad I cant tap into my AC line without anyone noticing.. lol .

Hey man, see you're putting in alot of work on the cab, and I have a suggestion for ya. The key is negative pressure. Maybe instead of having a fan for inlet do passive. When you have a positive pressure temps rise. take out the fan in the bottom and instead work to have as much freeflow as you can, try putting more holes in the bottom or even take the bottom out and replace it with a sreen of some sort. Maybe also cut some out of the skirt and save what you cut out to put it back when you need stealth. Also try to better postion your exhaust with as little bend as possible, angle it more. Take the fan you have in the bottom and maybe hang it to flo towards the exhaust. Most peeps don't use intake fans. Of course if your ambient room temp is too high fans alone can not work, so try as much as you can to control room temp. I have learned by the closet grow I am doing, I had to keep trying to get smooth flow out with passive intake. That's the way forward bub.

Check out my grow in my sig and + rep for the hard work you're doin

hey bro someone was telling me to use this... but i have a room so i wasnt interested. so i thought id share and idea. here is what he said..

grow in these:

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Mainstays-...Alder/11061206

and grow in 3 gallon pots. use the pegs for the shelves to install a chicken wire screen and scrog that shit to maximize the yield.

instead of needing a 600 watt lamp, a 250 will do, and controlling the temps might be easier.

that way it's modular, and in case shit happens, you can break it down quick.

personal opinion
its a little bigger than yours but that way theres more room for you to have exhaust and passive intake for the light and to cool the temps. also scrog would be a good idea for you IMO. especially if you're trying to grow in a cab youll yield more for each plant. just an idea man +rep for youre nice grow and the quick answers. ill be watching :)

THanks for the idea. thats a much cheaper cabinet than the ones I have seen. I will keep it in mind if I can free up some more room.

Thanks man. I will definitely try that out when I have the time. THanks for the support!

reading reading reading. been looking at stealth dresser cabs for the last 4 hours while I watch star trek episodes. I think choempi is spot on with his critique. Many of the dressers I have seen can get temps about 5-8 degrees above outside room temp with the same type of equipment that I have. The bottom of my cab is just a thick particle board though so I wil have to reinforce it somehow after I drill the holes for more intake.

I was also thinking that I could build some sort of enclosure for the CFLs with their own exhuast. or maybe even submerge them in some sort of nonconductive gel with their own exhaust, but simpler is better. and I have just about run out of money to spend on this box. pics in a couple days. not much change without the proper nutes. tiger bloom should get here wednesday.

I at first thought an intake fan was the way to go utill I found some threads that preached the need for negative pressure. In my closet I split the height for 2 chambers, and had to do much tweaking to understand how to control enviroment. Eventually what I did was cut large slots in my dividing shelf and then stuck some boards running prependicular to the slots to put my F&D tubs on so the air is pulled up from my passive intake and through my top chamber. Works great, had to get a decent extractor fan tho, but that is in a 2x3x8 closet with a 400 hps. You'll get it right the fan you have in the bottom could maybe be hung to blow on your lights in the direction of your exhaust, will cool them alot...:-o:-o:-o

yeah I was lol. I had read about this earlier in the day. http://nexus404.com/Blog/2009/07/17/eternaleds-hydralux-4-world’s-first-liquid-cooled-household-led-4-watt-globe-looks-to-replace-25-watt-cfls/ ...

I got my tiger bloom in today. hopefully this clears up my calmag deficiency. fed them at 1/3 nutes and some foliar feeding at 1/5.

I feel like my fan has to work. I see people with a couple cpu fans in a cabinet this size and they have tolerable temps. my temps in the bathroom are fine though. I need the cabinet done in two weeks though because I know the ladies wont be done by then, and theyre going to a friend to watch. I figure at least a month. I am about to tinker with the box for a while. see if I can remove the bottom and create some sort of vented style intake.

I am pretty nervous about it but, Ive known the dude since junior high so hes trustworthy. and I am also working on getting the trip delayed or shortened.

Hey johnny,

Like it was mentioned before just cut a hole in the bottom of the cab, (I know you already have one cut) but if you need reinforcement just built a raised sub floor or use a screen type bottom to allow more intake if that suits your needs.

I dont have a completely sealed area, but I do have a fan blowing across my lights and an exhaust fan directly across from the fan I just mentioned... It works great for me, my temps never go above 80f, in fact they are always around 80f give or take a couple degrees when the lights are on.....

Best of luck to you.

Thanks for the kind words fellows. I really appreciate the support. I havent given up yet!

Here are some pics. This grow is real ghetto. I cant really rotate the plants anymore. The one on the left slid off the back of the toilet and hit the ground standing straight up. so theres some mercy in the bitches heart after all.

you can see some sugar on some of the leaves forming up. also a stow away grass seed was in my sand. I let him hang out. give the ladies company.

hopefully the proper nutes will sort my shit out. I am tired of seeing nute burn.

edit:/ also included a couple of how my old lady looks from the way I topped her. It trips me out how twisted she is. also the leaves arent quite as yellow as they look. I just didnt want to turn the lights off to take the pics.

Thanks again fellas. I feel like my buds on the one I topped are pretty puny. I also have hardly any smell, although I dont check on my plants but for about 5 minutes when I wake up before the lights are off and about 5 minutes at night when they come on. I plan on just picking up that febreze true air carbon filter for $14 since I am keeping it in the bathroom. but not until I can smell something...

Ill post pics in an hour or so and you guys can give me an idea of about how much longer I have to go. I have been flowering for 5 weeks.
