Dirty Weed Proof of Concept

couple pics.

You can really see the explosion in growth in my biggest plant compared to the smaller one beside it. Both were transplanted at the same time and are getting the same water and nutes. I am not sure why the smaller one is not really growing but I think I will replace it with one of my three new babies. I used my built in webcam to take these pics so they arent too good.

The bigger plant is being LSTed and I just topped it. I am guessing height without LST would be about 10 inches tall and 10 inches across.

seedlings are about 3 inches tall and 3 inches across. They arent stretched at all and are already showing alternating node growth.

I was trying to do the math on the age of your plants, would about 4 weeks be right?

Just over 4 weeks on the oldest ones. I had a bad light setup so the first two weeks were very slow. My biggest plant has tripled in size in about ten days thanks to proper lighting and ventilation.

looks like I topped correctly. The two alternating node sites have started to put up new stalks. wish my camera worked though because the node where I topped, the two stems that are adjacent to it look like they may be splitting or some new growth is goin on there also... 6 more days to flowering so hopefully something happens before then. I was hoping to get some pre flower sexing to show, but no dice.

decided to go ahead and switch to 12/12. the healthier of my two old ladies is getting unwieldy. I have her pinned down in about three places. The sick one still looks like shite except for the new green growth coming in. So these two and the three seedlings are now in 12/12 and under 6 2700k cfls.

I hope to see sex sooner than three weeks.

Still too early to tell sex I guess. I am seeing some preflower growth coming in I think, but too small to tell what it is. The way I have my plant tied down its hard to get in there. I did find a few pics for anyone that happens along and can use the info. mine are looking female, no little sac, but still tooooo earrrly... ... .. ugh. back to the anxious waiting.

I also came across a pretty slick stealth dresser using a 150w hps along with their cfls. and so i found this kit online...

going to do some more research but if anyone has any comments on it let me know. I know not much is happening atm but feedback would be wicked.

Your plants look nice and healthy. I was also kicking around the idea of a 150w Hps as a
supplement, but I have seen some really good CFL grows on here. Im not sure what Im gonna do yet, but the
light your looking at looks like a decent deal.

Thanks man. Now its just a waiting game to see sex. One of my plants seems to just be a bad plant. its been sick almost since day one. its still maybe a third the size of the good one. new growth always looks fine on it then it gets all wilty and hard. oh well. its just bagseed.


I checked craigslist and there seem to be a steady supply of people trying to get rid of their full light setup. some are selling 400w lights, hood, and ballast for 150. I am going to stick with CFL I have decided. the low cost and heat and everything just make it easier for me. maybe some day when I have more privacy and space and can afford the higher bill.

no sign of sex yet. but I did pick up a dresser at a garage sale today and just finished gutting it. Its really fuckin sturdy so it took me about 3 hours to get it apart. Now I just need to get a properly cut piece of wood to make a door for the back. the faces of the drawers will be gorilla glued to the front to make it seem more like a regular dreser. This thing was crazy old and I kind of felt bad tearing it apart. pics coming when its not so ugly. I also dont really have any tools besides a hammer and a set of screwdrivers, so this will probably be an awkward process.

So did the dirty work on my cab. Pictures below. This thing was mostly wood with only the back panel being particle board. forget to get a pic of all the debris but it was about two trashbags.

anyway. I took everything apart and gutted and cleaned most the inside out. Then used white gorilla glue to glue the face panels back on. This probably wont be airtight so I will be going to the hardware store today to get some caulk and white paint to finish the inside. I have measured the back for a door. I plan on putting some weatherstripping around it to make a seal. i plan on just using extension cords to run the lights down into the main cab from the top. my overall height is only about 40inches inside with about 6 being taken up by the top shelf I left in until I can mount a shorter one. probably need to get a drill for this...

anyway, just need to get a pen that will clean up the nicks on the outisde and it will mostly match my desk. put my tv and xbox on top to make it even less obtrusive. Then I can start letting people use the spare bathroom again.

no real updates. no sex yet. but i was watering tonight and saw this freak show. pics included. kind of creepy, like 4 long ass mushrooms were growing out of the hole in my little pot. pulled em out and sprayed the area with neem oil. Its crazy because i am using the same soil, nutes, and watering regiment on this plant, yet its half the size and has been infested with at least two different types of shrooms.

theyre both female. huzzah.

now i need to move my ass this weekend and get my cab finished before they start stinking. just need to seal it up and get the door cut. get a filter figured out.

ah. relief. now i just need to work on keeping them alive for another 6-8 weeks.

So this should be the final stretch. as long as I can keep things alive and deal with the smell when the time comes. I already have a plan on a carbon scrubber, as well as have a local shop that sells ONA. I was going to go get the door for my cab cut today but hit up happy hour instead...

Thanks to everyone that has helped out so far. I have a question though. I have been flowering for just about two weeks, is it possible that I could be done flowering in 6 more weeks? I have to go out of town in just over a month so any tips to push these two hard would be appreciated. I know its bagseed and that they sometimes want much longer to finish. just hoping someone can pop in with a ray of hope.

if it matters, with LST and topping i have kept my overall height down to under a foot so far. I dont know if a smaller size can speed things up or not.

this is about the 13th day of flower. I am pretty severely LSTing these ladies. the "sick" plant seems to be bouncing back over the last few days. its the one named "stupid" here. I didnt top this one and its only got one top. The one called "prettier" here I did top and it has several tops. I counted 6 but there are a couple I am trying to get to poke out of the canopy. I bought six more lights, but I plan on finishing my cabinet and getting temps in there before I double the light. The bigger plant has pretty big fan leaves imo. they just woke up so theyre a little uglier right now but they get pretty perky.

pistils all over the tops of the prettier one. just a few on the uglier one.

comments? suggestions?

Looking good johnny, congrats on the ladies.
Im curious to see them in their new home after you get it set up.
More lights with some side positioning will really help with that thick
canopy. Keep up the good grow!

Thanks pal. I appreciate your comments. this site is the only one im a part of and my only outlet for showing off my new hobby.

I got some wood cut to make the dresser into a cabinet but still trying to figure out how to get it airtight. I think I am going to go with white plastic. I have seen grow rooms that are coated in white plastic so this should be two birds with one stone, in regards to reflectivity and sealing it. I finally got some hinges that will make it more stealth and keep it airtight. I plan on getting all that put up tomorrow. Ill probably go buy a dremel tool tomorrow to make some holes for exhaust and intake.

I plan on buying another cheap 6in desk fan from walmart to convert to a scrubber. The one i have for circulation is super quiet.

ive run into a very lucky problem. both my older plants ended up being female and two of my three seedlings have shown pistils already. I really dont have the room to house all these! time to do some research and see if its worth making hash or if i should just go out to the river and plant them.

anyway.... end of rambling for the evening.

hey johnny, i posted in my thread too, the total is about 20-22 inches high with the pot, but that is all tied down. if it was standing up, it would be about 3 1/2 feet tall and thats in an 8" tall pot. my box is only 4 feet high. also, just subscribed.

did some more LST last night. height was about 10 inches before. and I guess it must be about 7-8 now. the middle is splayed open and lights going down inside now. like I said, one of the plants was topped and has 6-8 tops showing, with two not so matured. the one that wasnt topped only has one main and two little side tops.

havent done much on the cabinet. I plan on sealing it some more over this week and try to find a dremel tool to borrow so I can get the latch holes and exhaust/intake holes cut. then its just getting the lights in. I came across a thread that has a febreze brand carbon filter, about the size I was looking to make for $14 with replacement packs of three filters for $5. so far everyone that has one is loving it. so that problem is solved.

I tried ordering some seeds from attitude today but both cards I tried didnt go through. pretty bummed. they had a sweet deal on seeds and a free mug and t shirt. I emailed them and hopefully they will be cool about it, but probably not. If not then I plan on ordering chrystal from Nirvana. I smoked white widow in amsterdam a couple years ago and the high was great. chrystal is a mix of that and northern lights, another highly recommended indoor strain.

well cant seem to post pics now but overall they look healthy. seeing some buds forming in several places. hardly any smell, just smells like a plant.

this is the filter i mentioned. looks small but he says it works for his two plants. i plan on feeding air into the top chamber on my cab and then fixing this in a position so that air passes through it on the way out. hopefully that works.

I would like to know how your scrubber works out. I was messing around in the cab this morning
and I could smell them pretty good after I was done from the other side of the basement. My sniffer doesnt work as well
as my wifes so this was the first time I got a whiff but my wife could smell them a week ago.

I need to figure something out...lol
