Cheap Meals...what do you do?

i rarely ever eat cheap. i only eat free range meat and mostly organic foods. chili is not cheap because you need a lot of spices. corriander, cumin, chili powder, garlic, onions, cayanne pepper, turmeric, black pepper, oregano. chop 2 peppers (i prefer red/yellow/orange), 1 small onion, 2 garlic cloves. in a pot, place 2 tbsp of oil and the choped veggies. cook until they have softened. while thy cook, cook the beef in a seperate pan. i use free range lean beef but u can use chuck or whatever your conscious will allow you to feed to your family LOL. cook the meat and drain it. Now you add spices to the pepper/onion/garlic. i add about a tablespoon corriander, cumin and cihli powder. i use salt, pepper, cayanne, turmeric, oregano to taste. after it's all combined, add the meat. let it cook for a minute then add a can of contadina tomato sauce (or similar - the only ingredients should be tomatoes and maybe herbs or preservative). then u drain a can of black beans and add it. i usuall let this all cook for a while and then drain any fat that is in the saucepan multiple times before serving. i hate greasy and i hate a lot of liquid in my chili.

use like 1.5 pounds of meat or you will have to use less tomato.
that's all there is to it. top with sour cream and jack cheese.
u can also add jalepenos if you want.
We need to share recipes more often?.

When I was first going through the whole... Fuck I've moved away from everyone that has supported me phaze and I had no job, had rent and power and all that crap... Rice with Fresh cracked pepper... or just noodles...

When I was being adventurous and had a little extra money I'd go for Rice with peas, butter and fresh cracked pepper...

I like making Phở out of Ramen noodles. It's not as good as actual Phở but it's awesome anyway. I just add some ginger, green onions, regular onion, a touch of fish sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin, star anise, cloves, cinnamon, bay leaves, cilantro, parsley, lime wedges, sriracha, little bit of basil (thai basil works best) and voila! fake Phở.

I got work in the appropriate sector :D I've had free food at hand for the past 5 years. Yesterday i picked up a fresh cornish pasty and an egg mayo sandwich. Free > cheap :)

Generally i will go 6am to 10pm without having a bite to eat, little dinner at 10, that's me sorted. If i feel cheeky i just have a liquid dinner :D

sounds like me, i don't eat a lot. honestly, i can't afford to and i need to lose a few pounds so it works out best. i usually odn't eat between going to sleep and dinner. i have a handful of almonds or something to hold me over because i don't want to spend $$$. it's lucky i don't have kids LOL, they would die of starvation.

A 10 pound bag of potatoes for $ 3.00 is hard to beat. Sometimes 20 pounds go for $ 5.00 or less. I had been eating a lot of home-made french fries, but lately I have been boiling a couple in a small covered saucepan for 20 minutes to cut back on the fat intake. A little salt and pepper and they are delicious. No butter or oil needed.

If you know any seniors or low income peeps that get free food ask them for some of those free beens. They give all kinds of beans to people, more than they will ever use. Heck with canned beans. I like to make chili from scratch using dry pinto beans. They also give these low income people tons of macaroni. Cook a couple of cups of these and add to the chili for chilimac. Makes a pot of chili go farther and is good too !

Sometimes whole hams go on sale for less than $ 1.00 a pound. I slow cook these for gatherings and UFC parties. Low grade pork chops can be had for around $ 1.10 a pound if you can't find the hams. They have less fat than pork steaks and BBQ real nice. I could go on and on......

The most expensive part of cooking a meal is the meat. The best thing to do is go to the store when there is a really good meat sale and buy in bulk. Adding pasta, veggies or whatever is really cheap. I fed 6 ppl tonight on about 7.00 dollars.
