A cheap way to eat out is to find out where the local community based schools/colleges teaches culinary arts. For me it would be Oakland County Community College or Schoolcraft College. Some high schools have vocation classes and they should work, too. They put on a stunning good meal very, very cheap. It's just like a high-end restaurant except everyone is a student.

you want to keep it cheap? just eat tons of rice/quinoa/couscous/millet with whatever veggies, no meat! I prefer to cut on other aspects of life, I love to spend money on good food!!

Whenever I eat quinoa, I first rince it off and keep the water for foliar feeding, it's an A1 surfactant... cheap way to make wet betty ... sort of!

Hehe!, just messing around here in a sense. But I really do enjoy cooking, and it certainly can be done frugally around the house. It simply requires a bit of common sense, for example...you can take eggs and make omelettes out of most anything.

ELK steak , potatoes and frozen corn . Real hard to beat that . kidding aside mac and cheese with either hot dogs or mac and cheese and canned tuna top ramen with hot dogs . lots of ways to eat cheep . Before i met my wife her family was so poor they had nothing but ramen noodles or pancakes for about two years straight . Downside is i don't get many pancakes or ramen around here . Hard to beat the elk/ deer steaks .

rice, beans, chili, tortillas, lots of canned vegetables for winter, fresh vegetables for summer, quelites (wild spinach), wild asparagus, piñons, fry bread, mutton stew, roast mutton, and we use lots of recipes from dried corn ( e.g., posole, backbone stew, corn meal, etc.).

i rarely ever eat cheap. i only eat free range meat and mostly organic foods. chili is not cheap because you need a lot of spices. corriander, cumin, chili powder, garlic, onions, cayanne pepper, turmeric, black pepper, oregano. chop 2 peppers (i prefer red/yellow/orange), 1 small onion, 2 garlic cloves. in a pot, place 2 tbsp of oil and the choped veggies. cook until they have softened. while thy cook, cook the beef in a seperate pan. i use free range lean beef but u can use chuck or whatever your conscious will allow you to feed to your family LOL. cook the meat and drain it. Now you add spices to the pepper/onion/garlic. i add about a tablespoon corriander, cumin and cihli powder. i use salt, pepper, cayanne, turmeric, oregano to taste. after it's all combined, add the meat. let it cook for a minute then add a can of contadina tomato sauce (or similar - the only ingredients should be tomatoes and maybe herbs or preservative). then u drain a can of black beans and add it. i usuall let this all cook for a while and then drain any fat that is in the saucepan multiple times before serving. i hate greasy and i hate a lot of liquid in my chili.

use like 1.5 pounds of meat or you will have to use less tomato.
that's all there is to it. top with sour cream and jack cheese.
u can also add jalepenos if you want.

So the majority of the world is poor...so in turn we make cheap meals to feed ourselves and our families...What do you do for cheap meals? Just trying to get an idea of what other people do to try and get a better variety of things for us to eat :)

I make chop suey at least once a week...a 1lb bag of elbow noodles, can of diced tomatoes, 1lb of hamburger meat(sometimes less depending on what we've got)...a cup of Classico spinach spaghetti sauce...mixed all up with some cheap parmesan cheese on top :)

We also sometimes do fried rice...throw 2 cups of rice in the rice cooker...cook it off...throw it in the fridge for at least 3 hours...
heat up a large nonstick pan nice and hot, drop in some olive oil, throw in the rice, stir, throw in some thawed shrimp(the cheap stuff...probably 1/4lb or so)...stir...make a well in the center of the rice and drop in a couple more tablespoons of oil, drop in 3 eggs, beat em up a bit in the center, get em cooking for about 30 seconds...then mix in with the rice, slap garlic powder on top, and start to layer on the soy sauce...stir stir stir...more soy sauce...stir stir...as the rice starts to get just get a little sticky its done :D
stock up on tuna when its on sale. make tuna noodle casrol or tuna salad. use to brown a pound of beef add cream of mushroom soup then add taters diced up. good eats. pancakes mafe from scratch are cheep

When I was younger I remember eating it for weeks at a time when my parents were struggling. I don't care much for them now.
Go even cheaper. I stock up on plain soba, ramen and udon noodles from oriental wholesalers and make the broth with my own stock or and leftovers as toppings. It feels more homely, too- try it x

im the shit with this.

first and foremost it sounds gross but i go on thursday and get the discount family packs of meat.
so last time i ended up with
15 boneless skinless breast chicken for 5$
15 steaks for 7$
ect ect. theyre not gone bad its just regulatory on shelf life for a gercory store they cant keep it any longer. since theres 2 of us at my house i then put two pieces of each into a ziploc bag. and i have a LOt of meat for little.

as for cheap meals...

breakfast
2 piece toast, spread butter ontop and sprinkle cinnamon now you have cinnamon toast (kids love that shit)
lunch/dinner

I like to do
(single serving) 1/2 can of tuna, sprinkle lemon juice (fresh or bottle) ontop sprinkle pepper, a pita and salad
or
Sunni's ramen noodles
cook ramen noodles,
in wok, cook broccoli, carrots, onions , ect (anything you think would taste good)
cook until tender (usually about 10-15 mins)
throw in ramen, some soya sauce and youve got a filling meal.

Salsa chicken:
- 350 preheat,
place chicken with some s &p into pan, then put a jar of salsa over top (depends how much salsa you have per how many pieces of chicken)
shred some cheddar cheese ontop if you wish
cook for 45 mins
make a spinach and romaine lettuce salad to go for a side aswell as some wild rice
(for rice i usually use these no name packages theyre about 80 cents each. good buy feeds four)

Sunnis stirfry.
put chicken in heated wok. cook until pink is not noticeable.
put in broccoli, snow peas, red onions, green or red peppers baby corns ,carrots and water chestnuts.
cook down until vegetables are tender
bokchoy ( about 1.46 for a lot)
wash thoroughly, cut length wise place into stirfry simmer down until leaves are very very dark green
stir in soya sauce or kikomans stirfry sauce.

Sunnis mushroom burgers

for a healthy treat
turn on the heat or indoor grill
take out gills of portabello mushrooms and stems
place on grill with red onion slices
toast buns
once everythings grilled, just before ready to take off , put a slice of provolone cheese onto each mushroom
place mush , onions onto buns , for sauce i use balsamic vinaigrette salad dressing.

These last few arent SUPER cheap, but you got me putting down my recipes so...

Greek Salad Done Sunnis way
cut cherry tomatoes length wise
cut cucumber length wise, then again and then chopping into two half moon shapes almost
can of black olives pitted and drained
red onion cut into little squares
feta cheese
balsamic vinaigrette
toss altogether serve with pita cut in half (i like to put alot of dressing to make it juicier)

Sunnis Stuffed Chicken
butterfly chicken, pound set aside
in blender
do spinach , asiago shredded cheese, olive oil and fresh basil
make a chunky consistency
place onto chicken and roll chicken
wrap two slices of prosciutto onto chicken secure with toothpicks
bake at 350 for 45 mins
For a Side I do
asparagus , cut off hard ends place into boiling water until they are bright green
then give them an ice bath (make sure they cool down completely)
place onto baking tray and pour balsamic vinaigrette onto them,
bake for about 10 mins at 350
