roasted potatoes kick ass too. clean & chop potatoes into wedges, put them in a bag with olive oil, lemon, galrlic cloves, rosemary, salt pepper, you can even add carrotts, olives, onions. heat oven to 425 - lightly rub a glass bake pan with olive oil and put all the stuff in there. add herbs you like, parsley, thyme, chives... cook until the stuff is soft.

u can also pressure cook potatoes and make soup for really cheap lol. i make potato leek sometimes.

When I was first going through the whole... Fuck I've moved away from everyone that has supported me phaze and I had no job, had rent and power and all that crap... Rice with Fresh cracked pepper... or just noodles...

When I was being adventurous and had a little extra money I'd go for Rice with peas, butter and fresh cracked pepper...
thats awesome, when I first moved out I survived off ramen noodle. and also noodles with butter sat/pepper and parm cheese ;)

I save by making alot of home goods. Stay at home dad so lots of time. Home cooked breads, cookies cakes. Pasta meals, potatoe bakes, stew and casseroles. Easy to do especially with a crock pot.
HI 5 you are awesome ! and so is the crockpot

1 cup of rice
1 can of pork n beans
2 eggs
PLUS whatever fruit and veggies i can wrangle up. If its summer, i'll be grabbing peppers and/or cucumbers/tomatoes/beans etc from my garden.

This meal is cheap, loaded with complex carbs, protein, fiber, and it's a meal that makes me feel satiated for hours, without feeling stuffed. It's enough food for 2 people.

This is my favorite:

Take 10 lb ready to cook ham which I can find for $9 after the holidays. Smoke it for 5 hours.

Chop up a dozen onions ($3), a dozen cloves of garlic ($1), 1 square of salt pork ($4), 1 lb of butter.

Soak 8 bags of small kidney beans ($8 and 5 bags of black eyed peas ($5) over night.

Combine all ingredients in a pot with (in order of quantity) water, salt, oregano, thyme, rosemary, chili powder, bay leaf, paprika, cumin, and cook for 5 hours.

Combine one portion of the end product with two portions of rice. For ~$35 you can eat for ~3 months and it tastes similar but better than Popeyes Red Beans and rice.

do you just eat like 2 fried eggs on the side? or do you mix them with your beans and rice?

lol, not me. i actually eat very expensive food. i never eat cheap meat, always grass fed, free range. i never buy dairy products that aren't from free range, organic animals. i wouldn't eat chicken that wasn't free range. i know it's expensive but i'd rather eat less than support the commercial farming tactics that are used in producing 99% of the shit sold in grocery stores throughout the US. i think it's bad for us, bad for the environment, and bad for this country.

I mix all that shit together. I fry the eggs separately, cook the rice separately. Mix it all on my plate, and add some hot sauce and its on.

We make 1 person pizzas in a 12" covered skillet. In a small bowl add 1 small can of tomato PASTE then fill the empty can 3/4 of the way with water. Add 1 teaspoon salt and 1 teaspoon sugar. Mix well. Put a 10" flour tortilla in skillet and spread sauce mixture very thin on it. Add small peices of lunch meat such as ham, salami, pepperoni or even leftover cooked meat like hamburger. I cover it with a broken up peice of american cheese and a little mozzerella. Shake on a lot of some premade italian seasoning. Turn stove on medium heat and cover skillet. Give the skillet a shake now and then until tortilla is very crisp and crunchy. I like mine almost burnt. Cover and refridgerate the remaining sauce. These are cheap and easy to make and you can't buy a pizza with crust so nice and crisp.

Edit : I forgot the cut up green bell peppers !
