he has a 400w lamp about 20in away from 3 indica/sativa hybrids with desk fan and a carbon filter for air circulation in a 6ft tent. gives them about 300ml of water every other day. the soil has enough nutrients for the first few weeks which has not passed yet and the are in vegetative stage. the problem is that his bottom leaves were starting to go yellow at the tip but were cut off early but now the new leaves at the top have yellow tips on 2 of them.....any ideas please before it gets worse?????????????????

My first guess would be to much water get a moisture meter for 3-4$ and it will let you know when to water. Second thought would be the soil was it a kind that had nutrients mixed in when he bought it? Soil that has nutrients premixed might be to strong and it's nutrient burn in which case leeching the soil would help or soil ph is to high or low locking up what nutrients are there.Hope this helps.Hitman40

how big are your pots?, they may have been burned by the nutes in your dirt just use straight water to fix the problem, get a pH meter

EDIT: haha wrong quote don't smoke weed kids

well my friends soil is an all mix nutrients. with a 6.6 ph but shall get a ph reader 2moro for him to check the water aswell. the lamp is a high pressure 400w sodium light. on another note would it be advised to use cheap bottled water. as the tap water available is hard water and when left out there are layers of scum visible and once when put into soil white crystals appeared??? i am not sure if it is the soil as the yellowing is only happening on some of the plants although is getting worse and i fear for the rest of the grow

how do u know ur ph with out a ph reader

umm im pretty sure its ur soil. it needs garden lime to reach 6.5-7 run off water(if u dont add lime at all its like putting 8ph water n runoff is still 5.5

ur soil is loickin out the nutes therefore ur newer leaves is usin g the energy from ur lower leaves to continue

ph problems often/ is the cause of nute defiency

well i dont know the exact ph of the soil once been watered but on the packaging for the soil it states that it is 6.6. but i have probably made the mistake in assuming bottled water is 7. also how do you calculate that the run off will b 5.5?????

First off i think its funny how people get paranoid on here and say that their friend is growing but in reality its actually the person asking the question thats growing. Why wouldnt your friend just open an account and ask himself? And last but not lease none of my friends know except one and thats because i stumbled onto his grow a couple of summers ago!! Its all good though and for your issue you should invest in a good PH meter and a reverse osmosiss system!! Good luck dude!!
