I've also been thinking of long term storage. I'll be growing 10 times more than I'll get through myself, currently don't have anyone to sell to.

From Royal Queen Seeds:

Would it be better to extract the resin and store as an oil / wax?
Thanks for that RQS quote. Yeah, I've got more than I know what to do with at the rate I get through it, so was thinking long-term (& out of sight) in small amounts.

I've made oil in the past & used the proceeds to make cookie dough, vape liquid & coconut oil caps, but was wondering about how the raw material would handle being sealed & frozen (ie. crushed &/or getting too crumbly).

Btw @Lucky Luke , I use straightforward metho as my solvent (rather than IPA) for making oil. I know that metho is bad for you, but it has a lower boiling point than ethanol, so it's driven-off first when evaporating the liquid.

What you going to use to squish the rosin
Have you ever pressed dabs bro or blazed it, I couldn’t believe how good it taste’s. I’ve tried oils and butane extraction’s but shit taste does get you high though (May be the people making it also). I don’t like the idea of using all that shit to extract the goodness either

Cleanest extraction from a solvent would be rectified spirit like polmos, but at $60-70 for 500ml it's an expensive option.

Dosed caps sounds like a sick idea.

What about the additives in the method they put in to stop the old fellas from drinking it

I reckon it would be not getting the gas out by the taste. I know I’ll fuck it up if I start using chemicals and gases hell ill probably break a few bags pressing rosin as well lol

Of the likely suspects for discouraging actual consumption of "methylated" spirits (which, btw, no longer contain actual methanol - I checked the MSDS's for a number of products currently available), the most likely candidate is Cyclohexane, which can be effectively removed by using olive oil (yes, you read that correctly!).

There are no toxic amounts of anything in "Metho" any more (something to do with the producers not wanting to be sued by people who DO actually consume the stuff), so we're talking negligible ppb.

I'd be more concerned about the detrimental health effects of inhaling smoke from burning plant material than ingesting <0.0001 ppb of something in edible form.

Suit yourself bruz but its not a good choice for a solvent to you use for making medicine

Mate, I just almost snorted a whole mouthful of beer all over my keyboard when I read that.

I always have a bit of a chuckle when people jump on the euphemism bandwagon of "Medicine" to justify their use/supply/sale of cannabis (particularly the US "Dispensaries" - another euphemism for "legal dealers"), when the dysphemism "I feel better about everything & forget about being "sick" when I'm whacked off my tits" is a more accurate descriptor of their use (or motivation for sale).

Let's call a spade a spade - the VAST majority of users do so recreationally to get stoned, NOT to relieve a medical condition.

Don't get me wrong - last OD season, I grew 3 plants of low THC/high CBD for a mate's wife with a chronic pain condition in the hope it would help them out of a difficult situation. She doesn't smoke & doesn't like the "head" effects of cannabis, so the proceeds have to be made into an extract she can ingest.

My mate did some research (as did I) into the best way of doing it & independently, we came to the same conclusion: Ingestion of negligible amounts (ie. miniscule ppb of something) is better & less harmful. The pro's outwiegh the con's.

After he discussed it with his wife, it was agreed that (based on my capsule-making experiments last year), direct infusion in coconut oil would be the best option for his wife, even 'though she's Vegan & doesn't like the idea of ingesting capsules made of gelatine.

We're a bit of an anarcho-syndicalist commune.....

Yeah well some people like to help out those people that are sick and can't access oil which they use as medicine believe it or not.
You can keep all that toxic non harmful oil to yourself, seems to be working really well for you

Why are people so sensitive about others calling weed medication? Most medicinal and recreational drugs originated from the wild right?
The definition for Medication is a drug or substance that can be used to treat or relieve (amongst others) symptoms of illness/injury. A Drug is any substance that when inhaled, injected, smoked, consumed or absorbed has a physiological and/or psychological effect on the mind or body.
And most pharmaceuticals are derived from plants before being synthesised.

So what’s the big deal with calling weed a medication if it relieves particular symptoms for you? I don’t get it. It’s semantics..

I consider it a medicine for myself (chronic back pain, anxiety and depression). Its helped me tremendously, im off all other pain meds and can get through the day... Its been medicine for 6000 years until only 80 years ago when some racist old white American cunt says its the devil.

Dispensaries calling it a medicine; this is all bullshit legal red tape as it's still federally illegal to sell weed for recreational use in USA. They can call a spade a dildo as far as I'm concerned, at least it's leading Aus in the same direction

I've grown some charlottes angel from dutch passion, less than 1% thc and up to 16% Cbd.. smashed a trumpet of a joint this morning and went about my day, its really a strange feeling... almost feels dreamlike.
However, you really do need the thc for this to be effective as a pain reliever / relaxant / sleep assistant etc, cbd alone is not as effective on its own. A 1:1 at 6-10% would be perfect.

I'm also vegan, have grown all my plants 100% vegan and can give you/ your friends misses advice on products if required.

Shouldn’t matter if ur getting high or not either way it’s having a therapeutic effect. (thc high for depression).

Just ftr I did say “can be described” as a medication” too. It’s just the way people personally interpret the term “medication”

Weed is like most drugs it’s medicinal and recreational (not saying all drugs should be used recreationally).
To say it’s one or the other is pretty ignorant. I’ve had two knee reco’s and shoulder surgery thanks to my rugby days. I have to lay bricks 5-6 days a week on those knees and chase my kids around after that.
I could take highly addictive opium based products to ease the pain (does that make it good because it’s classed as a medicinal drug).
But I choose cannabis based medicine be that head, hash, edibles and I have taken cbd oil but can’t get a regular supply.
I love smoking it recreationally as well nothing better then blazing some hell fire with mates. If I smoke weed and it instantly gets rid of pain and headaches. I believe that’s a the same as taking an aspirin sure you get the benefit of been high as well but just makes it better.

“...on Drugs.” And pot is considered a drug therefore able to be prescribed as a medication.
FTFY. Just one little word change & the whole connotation changes to the point I was trying to get at.

Folks, I wasn't trying to have a go at anyone against the efficacy of using weed as a form of medication for some conditions, but the way it's currently perceived by society & the law-makers. I know about the Dupont/Mellon/Anslinger conspiracy theory & how weed became demonised up until recently in the US. That's changing here too, but it's a slow, uphill battle.

The thing is, when laws were changed in the US to allow medical prescription, the "Dispensaries" (& Government) saw a way of making vast wads of cash. All you had to do was go to a known Dr "X", complain of certain symptoms & waltz down to the dispensary with your card & legally buy your recreational weed that had just been "prescribed" by a Dr. Not a specific strain/type or THC/CBD ratio - people were allowed to choose their own "medicine". A simple exploitation of a loophole in the law. Guess which ones sell the best??

Until the laws change for the better, people will continue to grow/use the stuff illegally, or find a legal loophole. How many people do you know that have been officially diagnosed & prescribed for medical use?
