Best I could do for now, I've got a fucked back ,been 2 weeks since Ive been able to flush it and fill it .. so It usually should get at least 20 mins without water per week (wet dry cycle)...make em want it more.. only drained the resi halfway and topped it up to get ppm to 1300 , so it's needs a flush , but still better for me cause I can't get enough oxygen into the soil in the room it's in .. roots just hang into the water and away it goes
What type of system have you got going there

Cool.
Where'd you pick up the wet-dry cycle idea from? Or is that a bit of tek you've developed yourself

Doesn't it store energy from light to be like a generator later on when it's not building up the power/light to make the photosynthesis work..
Mostly stores the energy in it's leaves, in the form of glucose. The leaves process the energy, turn it to glucose, store it, leaves get bigger etc.

Flowers are able to absorb light as well. Many of the different colours in buds, is because specific wavelengths of light are being reflected and absorbed, giving it it's colour.
The flowers have leaves as well, so the buds do absorb light energy, just not in quite the same way.

what do you think of something like this https://horticulturelightinggroup.com/products/flowering-initator-development-kit?
I tried starting a discussion on them awhile ago but.....
Here they are set up.
Nah, i'm not a techy guy. I've always used trusty hid, just makes it easy.

Not gonna lie though, the led's are catching up i reckon.

What's the theory with this thing? Does it emulate sunrise and sunset, maybe initiating flower sooner?

Edit: thought it was a light at first glance. What does it do, interact with the light itself, and change the wavelength?

Im not 100% sure. I was going to ask Stephen the other day but I missed the show he is on. From what I understand it is a wavelength like sunset and the lights come on when the main light goes off. The claim is it puts the plants to sleep faster thus initiating flower a tad earlier.
Im led to belive its standerd in the about to be realised 550v3 but don't quote me.

Chlorophyll is responsible for converting sunlight into energy in the form of sgars, so any part of the plant containing chlorophyll is able to do that process.
The different colours are are a product of the different types of chlorophyll A, B, C, D and E that are present in the organism as its not only plants that are capable of photothynsis

Purple weed is not made by chorophyll it turns purple because off Anthocyanins, chorophlly breaks down at low temps and the Anthocyanins take its place created purple (it’s more complicated but I’m simple lo). Making edibles of weed with lots of Anthocyanin in it is good it’s like eating any food that has purple in it. It’s full on antioxidants

Years ago when I did hydro, I used to have a table setup which got flooded once an hour for 10 mins and was dry for 50 mins. In summer I’d do 5 mins and 25 dry. That’s how I’d grow now I just don’t have the room. It was an easy setup.

I think Anthocyanin is a type of flavanoid isn't it? I know flavanoids are responsible for flower color.

Fuck me!!!

This place turned to shit in a handbag in the past few months & I haven't even caught-up reading from last year yet. What's with all the name-calling & accusations shit?

You lot have been carrying-on like a bunch of adolescent schoolgirls with little (if any) real exchange of information & local knowledge. Wasn't that the whole point of this thread in the first place (Go read the OP!!)??

This whole thread imploded into a shit-storm, whereas it used to be a place for like-minded Aussie growers to hang-out, banter/bullshit to each other & share stuff (sometimes good, sometimes bad......). Sometimes deeply personal........

Somewhere the warped Aussie sense of humour was welcomed with open arms.

I'm bitterly disappointed in what it's become, but will keep reading-back from about Sept. last year (where I was up-to before coming to the latest posts to ask a serious question, only to be confronted by nothing but a bitch-fest/shit-sandwich). FFS!!!

I'm not even gonna bother asking my intended question right now, for fear of getting lynched by people who can't remember.

Does anyone else understand the meaning of the word "Internecine" without having to look it up in a dictionary?

Drove SWMBO around all day doing shopping & "shopping", which can generally mean "purposeful", or "simply indulgent".

Cranked-up the wood heater on the return home, since it's below 10C where we are & gonna get lower overnight. TOASTY!

Enchilada's in the oven, along with baked carrot doggie treats, then out for a quick spliff....Back inside to listen to a favourite radio show & just cruise-out the evening....or so I thought.....

We have but one agreed house rule: No smoking of anything inside the house. So, when I go outside & light-up, she thinks it's weed & considers a single weak spliff mixed with 'baccy', once a fortnight, on a Friday night, to be "all the time". Often, it's just a ciggie.

Dinner has been refused.

Apparently, I'm on the couch tonight.

That day turned-out well....

I didn't work yesterday and decided not to today so ive been a bit bored so went and had a long counter with a non drinking mate. So the bottle was all mine.. Chocolate pudding with extra cream went down well.
Then someone popped over later in the arvo for a quiet beer and a bag. Couple games of darts. 1 game a piece was a fair finish. (he kicked my arse last week)
Im pretty happy if a bit numb. Unfortunalty ill have to work for a couple hrs tomorrow doing what I should have today.

Humidity is killing me at the moment with trying to dry stuff. Wood heater is on in the shed to try to help keep that down.

Fat Yak Pale ale is not a bad drop.
