Ace seeds

Some of the Highland Thai talk is interesting. But how reliable are the stories of what who used to make this or that strain?

As far as Highland Thai, I'm good for the near future.

Can you spare some for an avid fan of the strain? I still have not sourced them. I'm down to share the grow with you when I get them planted.

Would be greatly appreciated!

I started some ACE Guatemala. They don't carry it anymore at least at this time. The seeds were dated 2017 and I had 100% germination. I soaked the seeds for 4 hours in plain tap water and then straight to soil. As is often the case with ACE Seeds the 5 pack had an extra seed for a total of 6 so I have 2 I didn't plant.

This is basically a reproduction run so as long as I get at least 1 male or female in any combination I'll be happy. I'll just be doing small plants so I'll put these into the flower tent around 3 weeks depending on how fast they grow. I'll likely transplant to 2 gallon containers in 2 weeks and then flower a week after that.

I also started some Chitrali I got from RSC so I plan on doing a cross with the two strains. It should make an interesting hybrid. The Chitrali is a landrace Hindu Kush strain from the Chitral region of NW Pakistan. I'm interested to find out how similar it is to ACE's PCK.

The Guatemalan has some fat leaves. There really isn't much information on this strain anywhere including the ACE forum. But I did find some information and it seems to start out that way with narrower leaves as the plant grows bigger. I was going to cross it with some Chitrali but I had zero germination from the pack of 12 seeds I got from RSC. I know it's not me because I never have issues and the Chitrali was the only thing that didn't germinate out of a variety of different genetics. So I ended up starting some Hindu Kush that I'll use instead. I might shoot the guy at RSC an email and let him know of the germination issue. But it doesn't really matter at this point. I have plenty of other stuff to work with.

I also started some Ethiopian from the seed reproduction run I made a couple years ago. I only did one plant and don't really care if it's male or female. Either way I'll use it in another cross to either pollinate or be pollinated.

This is the first grow I've ever done where I started under LED. I'm using a Vivosun VS1000 and things are going fine. The leaves seem a little odd looking compared to growing under an HO T5 but I'm not going to worry about it. Once they go under the 600 watt HPS it won't matter. They're basically healthy. I don't have a clue regarding the VPD, PAR, XYZ, etc... nor do I even care. I'm not bothering with a bunch of charts trying to dial this and that in. I couldn't tell you the humidity or temperature in the tent either. It doesn't matter to me. Good enough.

Here are 3 Ace Malawi male crossed with the Paradise Seeds Sensi Star original, female - 'Malstar'
And 1 Ace Malawi male crossed with Phantom cookies domina fem, - MPCD.
There's also a GG#4 S1 jammed in there.
~ 30 days 12/12
4 x 4 tent. ~ 320 watts with an HLG 550R. Temperature cold

Two across the front are Malstars. The one on left is a single stemmer, not pinched. Soil is quite hot so a couple of funky leaves on it, no biggie.
Plant on right is quite rangey and was pinched a while ago. Nice looking plant.

Guatemalan

is this the same as Tikal? I am running Tikal. it doesn't like low ph at all. growth is not too stretchy, but it's pretty densely leafed. seems more sativa than the durban poison and red hot cookies next to it.

Tikal is a hybrid. Ace created it back in 2005. They've since worked it extensively. I've grown it and liked it a lot. I have seeds from a cross I made with it. I wish I had the time and space to grow more stuff.

This is from post Dubi made in 2011 in response to someone's inquiry:

"Tikal hybrid: Guatemala female X Northern Light/Haze male)"

"Tikal breeding project started around 2005. We have opened lot of different lines since that time: backcrosses to the guatemala line, inbreeding indica pheno, inbreeding purple haze guatemala pheno, selecting the strawberry incensey lines, selecting small phenos for indoor growing etc .... there's a great variety of Tikal lines and we breed together the best ones with the better balance of traits to produce the commercial Tikal."

Destroyer was a collaboration between Ace and Cannabiogen (CBG). It's mainly Meao thai with some columbian/mexican. Nutes were kept low, 100-40-150. Still burned a little in coco dtw.

Week 10 (from seed) and a clone week 6 of the original. They have been growing different under scrog. She does not like to be tamed. Clone 1st pic.Week6 des.jpg

Original was dusted on 4 branches with:
Zacateca Tribute
MalXPan
Destroyer
Thai

From seed:
