Ace seeds

Lord, isn't it....
I thought I was ready.
Then every plant decided to be a different size and shape.
Yeah, especially if you're running the seed plant!! The clones are much more manageable.
The Thai dominant will stretch tremendously, and the Malawi dominant I had barely stretched at all. I didn't really care for that one, but I've been running the two Thai dominant ones for about a year.

The structure of a Malawi dominant male I found is ridiculous. Shortest plant of five.
Can't wait to cure it and check it out.
I got two males and 3 females.
Nodes spaced at about 4 inches, classic Afghani style like a Christmas tree, and stalk a full 2 inches thick at 4 feet tall. The leaves are giant sized and thick.
Before growing these, I would have called someone a liar for telling me these plants were 100% sativa. Only one of five is recognizable (by me) as Thai.

Considering my breeding program, this is actually a bonus. I was expecting fewer phenos to riffle through. In my mind it was much more cut and dried.
I guarantee there are unique specimens to be pulled from GT.
And I am hot on their trail.

What sort of potency did you find in yours? Any special characteristics?

Edit: yes, I smoke males. How else to judge them as breeding parents? Males will get you high as helicopter propellers, if it's worth keeping.

That's the ratio I had, 2 males and 3 females.

I think the Malawi leaning one I had is really just a bad Mashup of genetics, it just grew to weak. The very Thai dominant can be a bit amphetamine like, and the Thai dominant with Malawi influenced flowers is just a good all purpose smoke, is the most fragrant one as well.

There is for sure unique specimens to be found

Thanks! I get so excited about a new variety.
I am looking for that Thai 'amphetamine' buzz.
I am looking to breed a replacement for the Jillybean I lost. That speed buzz was one of Jillybeans rare phenos, that people I know really liked for stress relief and depression.
I ended up taking an Ambulance ride to the hospital and my mother plants mysteriously disappeared from my house...
I am going to bring the cross I make back to the Columbian I have, see if I can get to Jillybean through the back door. :)
(I'm fairly sure, given Subcool's many descriptions, That Melvin was a Columbian... He never said so, but I'm pretty good at ferreting out a landrace. The Columbians were ruling the day when Melvin was acquired. The main difference will be, it will not be a Haze. I went a different route and the GT substitutes for the Haze. Wish me luck.)

You're welcome! It had to be really painful getting home to see that missing. I grew one or two Jilly bean about 10 years ago, got it in an attitude promo, I didn't like the pheno I had gotten.
Maybe getting Honduras could be good for breeding, especially the Breeders Pack, it has Columbian and Mexican pheno mothers separated.

I read your post again, have you looked at some of Ace haze hybrids?
I've got them all. :)
I am trying through trial and error to reproduce 'formulas' that were purposely kept secret or simply unknown, so I try different routes until I see signs of what I am looking for.
The Oldtimer's Haze simply needs a lot of work to go that route. That's why I am trying the non-haze route.
Most people don't realize that the Columbian of the 90s was so widespread and good.
The Mexican tended to be what was bought as pressed bales. Not as good.
I should say I'm on the East Coast.

I'm in the south.
I have some Honduras Germinating, the Columbian from the Breeders Pack. The 5 New Caledonia have already Germinated. I have a Columbian leaning pheno of Destroyer that's about to get harvested I'm anxious to try.

I dont have much in the way of specific things in looking for in crossing up sativas, just trying to see where the genetics lead. I have a few Purple Haze Malawai x Destroyer (Thai leaning pheno) that are 2 weeks old seedlings I made, that are s couple weeks behind a Tikal, Malawi, and Panama Haze.

What about using Bangi Haze, or something like Panama Haze?

I sure hope we get a smoke report and breeders review of Destroyer!!!
I have not yet experimented with the Bangi. Too much to do and too few hands.
But I do indeed plan to get in it.
I have goals that I am keen to meet, so I keep them first and foremost. I will get to whatever I can. I am trying to do the work of about 5 guys, lol.
I'm hoping to pull a nice purple and green haze from my stocks of Old Timer's Haze.
I figured I'd start my breeding where I have the most experience: Columbian.
All through the 80s and 90s, all the good herb we got was Columbian, as they tried to revive the Red and Gold market during the time.

I have two Super Malawi Haze and one Ethiopian early in flower indoors. SMH are in small pots and I hope that keeps their height down. One is taller than the other and so far the leaves look the same, thin.

A scooped up a pack of super malawi haze to check out. Haven't popped them yet.

I sampled the seed husk from PHM x Destroyer (Thai), and it had an excellent effect, like I was legit happy and had energy from just feeling so good, it wasnt the amphetamine like energy of golden tiger.

I haven't grown bangi yet either, I have it, and Panama x Bangi I got about a month ago.

I ordered Panama x Honduras and Zamaldelica fems over the weekend that I'll be starting 1 each of when they hit the box.
I normally prefer Regs as well, but I do like fems. I prefer regs for ease of reproduction and breeding, but Fems are awesome when wanting to just run a single female. I a
Hate wasting time and end up with a male only, so if I'm doing regs minimum I'm starting is 4.

I'm really interested in running and crossing the happy smoke effect plants, so Tikal, Destroyer, New Caledonia, and Honduras are what I'm focused on now.

The Destroyers I ran a seed reproduction on with seeds I made in reproduction from 2016, and through a handful in to germ, ended up with a bunch of males, at least 7, and 3 females. The 3rd female may be Columbian dominant, I ripped it out of flowering to compost it, and have a clone I'm vegging a bit before putting it back in flower, it didn't stretch much and I want more yield than I guessed it was going to be.

You are right up my alley. :)
I have started plucking pollen sacks from males I an not going to breed with, so I can dry them and wash them for hash.
I have been repeatedly surprised at the high some males will give. Some males show tons of trichomes.
I always know it's a one off container of hash, and I'll never have it again, so it's something I break out to amaze folks when I tell them it's from a male.. :)
I hope you bring us the results of your grows. I will be watching intently.

I imagine something will at least end up in this Ace thread here.

I haven't smoked any of the males, I generally don't let them get very big, and collect some pollen in a small container that holds about a gram of dmt, and then selectively apply to branches. If I end up with something special, I'd definitely like to do a full seed run. But generally I'm very pleased to end up with 40 seeds or so, especially since I'll make seeds on first runs with females and then decide after if interesting enough to see the results

I'm just greedy. :)
I don't even want to let the males go unexperienced.

I just harvested 2 malawi x panama. Great yields, actually my best so far hitting scales at 21oz. Better yield than my malawi grow (avg 8oz a plant)

It does not require strong nutrients and finishes 12-13w. I did flip at 3 weeks veg to 10.5/13.5hr schedule to reduce stretch. She is quite strong and will make you forget exactly what task you were about to do.
