Will a 36-42v cob run off of 35.75v?

I bought my COBs a while ago, prices have gone down at kingbrite and up a little at mouser. My order included a dozen 100mm lenses--not sure if I'm going to use them, probably not at first. My latest order was for a dozen CXB3590 5000K CD (passive veg) and it was $40 for shipping plus 4.5%...

Will a 36-42v cob run off of 35.75v?

I'd never dealt with alibaba before so I bought the first four CXB3590 from Mouser for about $80 each and the rest from Jerry for maybe $60 each, delivered. DHL is extremely fast, like a couple days to Seattle. It was easy enough to deal through alibaba, pretty much like ebay. Jerry sends...

Will a 36-42v cob run off of 35.75v?

We can compare the different Cree series with this spreadsheet: http://pct.cree.com/dt/index.html I have some CXA3050 3000K that I doubt I'll use, the W2 bin just looks lame on paper compared to the CXA3070 AB. I have a dozen 72V CXB3590 3000K CB for my active bars. I've thought about making a...

Will a 36-42v cob run off of 35.75v?

I'm all kitted to build actively cooled 16 inch x 3.945 bars, three COBs running 1050mA: 72V-36V-72V, 3000K-5000K-3000K for 185W (plus driver). But if I were starting over, I would build passive triple bar luminaires and use the HLG-185H-C700 to power eight 36V COBs. That is about 25W per COB...

    DIY COB safety/fire issues

Fire safety is why I've spent thousands on LED over the past few years.

Will a 36-42v cob run off of 35.75v?

At least we don't have to worry about brightness bins with drivers; they'll be around a while before obsolescence. The 185 is a good series, I'm about to give myself a pair of 1050mA for Xmas.

Will a 36-42v cob run off of 35.75v?

lumen-geek, I wouldn't recommend running a power supply outside the specifications as a general practice. I like bassman's idea of going up to the next Mean Well power level, like this for a series circuit (instead of parallel)...

Will a 36-42v cob run off of 35.75v?

Eight CXA2530 total 295V @ 700mA @ 25C according to the PCT. http://pct.cree.com/dt/index.html I'd expect the driver to clamp the current down to 678mA so the wattage does not exceed 200 when first powered up. Vf of the string is 290 @55C. You'll be maxxing out the power supply but I think it...

    CXB3590 Build :)

Copied from angloinfo.com: "You cant buy 99% in France but you can get 95 or 96% and you will find it in leclercs where they have the bottles of acetone and distilled water Posted on: 04/11/2013 at 12:32" I suppose I would use clean, soft cotton or Kimwipes with water. Kimwipes are "Delicate...

    Diy cob led help please!

I got back into studying LEDs fairly recently, I'm only familiar with the Cree CXA3070, CXA3590, and CXB3590 lines. (The CXA3070 seems like a good buy.) The Veros are good, I'll let someone else recommend a supply.

    Diy cob led help please!

What matters is keeping the voltage drop of your LEDs within the constant current range of the power supply (driver). If you have a major brand COB like Cree you look at the voltage versus current graph to see more exactly what the forward voltage (Vf) will be but I don't see that here...

    Diy cob led help please!

I've only been designing using the high-dollar Mean Well supplies. Check the "how to power" thread for likely ebay vendors of cheaper stuff. https://www.rollitup.org/t/diy-leds-how-to-power-them.801554/

    Diy cob led help please!

That looks like a constant voltage supply. Most of us are using constant current drivers. What COBs are you using? Edit: another ebay listing shows the label "for switch-mode power supply loads only" http://www.ebay.com/itm/Oneac-Holdup-HU200-3-Ride-Through-Power-Source-New-/230612198074

    Diy cob led help please!

The Mean Well HLG-185H-C1400A (or B for external dimming pot (optional)) will run four of your COBs at 1.4 amps. The new HLG-240H-C1400 type will power five (36V) COBs.

My smart meter takes a reading every 15 minutes. Spikes would not be detected.

    Eye Protection and COB's

I'd be more worried about the blue spike in a high-powered COB veg room. (But not as much as when I had a 1,000W MH in there; cheap welding goggles were not comfortable.) http://www.cree.com/~/media/Files/Cree/LED Components and Modules/XLamp/XLamp Application Notes/XLamp_EyeSafety.pdf "To...
