Is the startup voltage spike of a magnetic 400w hps suspicious?

Hi i was wondering if anybody had any ideas about whether the startup voltage spike of a magnetic 400w hps looks strange on a smart meter. I'm not talking about 12/12 or anything like that just the spike. Does it compare to a space heater or ac unit or is it a dead give away? Thanks for any input on this i'll go put my tin foil hat back on now :-P

No.

All appliances have an amp spike when turned on. Some more than others. So Big Brother can not distinguish.

But....just to fuck with your paranoia... an amp spike that is consistently happening at the exact same time of day is pretty suspicious....

  • My paranoia doesnt need any extra encouragement lol been vapin a lot of avb and i think thats been causing it to get worse. Instead of timers ive always timed it so that the light period starts when i get home from work. The grow cabinet is light proof and the room its in has cfls on all the time. I open its door every 12hrs and turn the hps on at different times. That may all be unneccassary but until i move to colorado next year i prolly wont take off my tin foil hat:dunce:

messing around with the time like that for the lights isn't the greatest of plants imvho, and a good way to confuse the plants if you're off on your times for a while..

You're right but ive done it for years it might sound hard but when you have the power of ocd on your side its not. I used to have a alarm to tell me when to open the door but i stopped needing it. The door is opened no more than a few minutes within the same time every day ive been off with a few grows but never got hermies or stressed any plants. I agree though normal sane people shouldnt attempt this.
