    when to start nutrients

Yes to 3 weeks. 1/4 strength. Alternate plain watering. Stay at that dose....observe a couple more weeks before upping to one half strength. Strain will let you know what it likes. Some are heavy feeders, others are finnicky. I never go past 3/4 with other additives.

Ro water and nutrients in soil

I can tell you what works for me. I use distilled water always and organic nutrients. I use advanced nutrients iguana grow and bloom. I used to just mix nutrients into distilled gallons of water without checking anything. Now I have some nice meters and adjust ph and ppm as well before serviing...

Maybe it's just me, but tiny plants like CFL first.

Well, switching to an all led grow eliminated the high 80's temps of an all cfl grow. I usually run a 76-78 temp with 55% humidity. In the colder months it can drop to low 70's, so I add a monster 105 actual watt (2700k) cfl to warm things back up to 78, it serves as a mini heater.

    BIG BUD!

Use liquid form. Seems to work well. No issues, seems to swell them up nicely.

    Silica and cannabis

I introduce small amounts of botanicaires silica blast at week 3 of veg and slowly increase over time. I cut it off about week 3 of flower. It keeps plants strong, although I am not sure about detering pests. Last time I had some spider mites, and a few foilar feeds of neem oil wiped them out.

help switch over to advanced nutrients!!

People hate advanced. But It has always given me great results. I use iguana grow and bloom for base nutrients, and you really dont need anything else.

    Nute ? for flowering

I use a mix of iguana grow and bloom weeks 1-3 of flower then on week 4 I go full iguana bloom at 3/4 strength. It's fairly mild stuff at 4-3-6 but theres enough Nitrogen to keep things green and lush to the bitter end.

Maybe it's just me, but tiny plants like CFL first.

I tried vegging seedlings with LED and CFL. My findings were that if I start plants on 5000K cfl's at close proximity (1-2") they grow faster than if you start them on LED (18 inches above). Now I just use the CFL's for the first few weeks alone. Then when they hit about 3 weeks, I lose the...

    Question about air pots?

Glad to see your results with airpots. Those plants look pretty healthy to me. There are always pros and cons, and it was nice to hear both. I think one air pot thrown into the mix couldnt hurt to see the results for myself.

    Question about air pots?

Thanks for the valuable info. The thing that really got me was light on the roots is bad. I know how important it is wih hydro resevoirs, and roots in soil are no different. Air pota definitley have wide open holes for light to hit roots everywhere no doubt! So far black plastic pots, and black...

Anyone grow smaller plants, more strains?

I am looking into small one gallon pots. Smaller yeilds but more variety. I think with smaller plants spread out....more light would penetrate deeper into the canopy and around them.

Anyone grow smaller plants, more strains?

Lol, yeak Yes it is a tiny space, but perfect for personal meds. I just like to make sire there is no light shortage. When my funds are right Id like another space for a dedicated veg area. However LED lights have me broke.

Anyone grow smaller plants, more strains?

My space is small 2 X 2.5 X 7 tall with about a 1000 LED light. Traditionally I squeeze two 5 gallon pots or two large trees. I have adequate light and get a decent yeild for 2 strains. Now considering smaller pots, smaller plants but doubling variety of strains to 4. If I go with 2 gallon pots...

    Question about air pots?

I dont see the expense in these. Anyone vouch they are worth it, compared to fabric pots? Also how do they hold dirt in the bottom of the airpot? The pictures I see, have a grate type bottom, that looks like you'd get allot of soil spillage from the bottom of the pot over time.

    Carbon filter off at night

No way around the fan and filter running 24/7 if you want zero odor. Speaking of zero odor where are you exhausting scrubbed air? I ask, because even the scrubbed air is only maybe 95-97% clean of odors. If you have a power outage and your carbon filter stops for a period of time, smells will...

I have a question about some of Advanced nutrient products

I felt that bud candy really made things crystally, but imparted a strange synthetic flavor to the flowers. Maybe it was just me. I had tastier results with plain unsulphured blackstrap molasses. Never tried honey. I prefer botanicaire sweet raw now as a carb/sugar.
