    Whats worse?

Air movement and ventilation are the best defense. I run fans in my greenhouses all season.

quick question for outdoor smart pot growers

Will the water drain off in a day or two? If not, consider getting them raised out of the water.

    Buy land up north

Unlikely. I have several family members in Janesville. They tell me that growing there is frowned upon. Rednecks everywhere. If you can live out of town, great, but stealth is important. Lots of prisons nearby, and they like to keep them filled. There are good places to grow in NorCal, but...

Yeah! It's Bud Worm Season. Pics

Not so. The worms come from eggs deposited on the bud leaves(usually). Some are laid in groups, but in my area most a laid one to a bud. Watch for small butterflies and moths around your plants. If you see them, they are laying eggs. Spray regularly and thoroughly.

    Branch Die Off

I've had two plants show these symptoms. One book mentions Scarab Beetle grubs, which I find in my soil each spring. They are quite large. I'm still uncertain if this is the cause.

Yeah! It's Bud Worm Season. Pics

If you have a lot of worms, spray the buds NOW. Soak them, let them dry for a day or two, then rinse them early in the day, and let the sun dry them. Done thoroughly, this should kill all the worms. If you must spray again, use a fine mist on each bud. Rinse as before. Don't wait more than two...

Bacillus thurengiensis. It produces severe and fatal gastric distress in all caterpillars. On tomatoes it kills Tomato Horn worms. On the cabbage family, it kills Cabbage worms. On weed it kills bud worms. I see butterflies and moths in my garden all through the growing season but rarely find...

Yeah! It's Bud Worm Season. Pics

i've been using Bt for about thirty years. I've used it on weed a majority of that. The bacteria is very effective, even after washing the plants down(without a lot of pressure). Bt is usually suspended in a maple syrup mixture. The sugar washes away quickly while sufficient individual bacteria...

    Inner Buds Dying?!?? HELP PLEASE!

This is new to me. Anybody find anything?

    Damage: Any ideas?

Hmmmm... It just dawned on me to look at my calendar. Time to spray Bt again. Once more in two weeks, and then let nature take its course. FYI, once the buds become dense, adjust your spray nozzle to a fine mist to avoid too much moisture reaching the bud's interior. A couple days later, wash...

    Damage: Any ideas?

If conditions are damp enough, bud rot can set in. Bud worms poop accelerates the mold so that moisture is no longer the controlling factor. The rotting spots in the OPs pix don't seem dense enough to attract a worm. Also, the mold is too widespread unless there are a LOT of really hungry worms.

first time outdoor grow at 10000 elevation

Build a well reinforced greenhouse for next season. The intense sunlight at 10k feet will give you EXTREME yields. Look up Solexx fabric. It is VERY strong and has a solid 10 year warranty.(I just replaced the roof fabric on both my greenhouses after eleven seasons.)

    Damage: Any ideas?

Get some good closeups. I stand by the idea that some sort of mold is involved. Maybe not the kind you're used to seeing. Nothing else in my experience would cause that sort of damage. You aren't spraying your plants with carbs?(Sweet, Molasses, etc?) The first pic shows black stuff on a stem...

    Damage: Any ideas?

Some sort of mold I think. How good is your ventilation? It could be bud worms, but the buds are very small. Mold caused by worm damage is usually more likely in nearly mature buds, starting in the center of the bud.

I prefer Bt. Organic and very effective. It will kill worms weeks after application.

    Male produces seeds? or Hermie?

Pix would be greatly appreciated. I've seen many kinds of sexual expression showing flowers of both sexes. A few have produced viable seeds. None of the resulting plants were anything special.

UPDATE my babies for the season (white widow )

I have two White Widows growing, derived from two WW strains from Australia and Alabama. Your plants are about 3 weeks ahead of mine, but mine have almost no yellowing yet. One is about a six foot ball and the other over eight feet. Very heavy producers. Yours look about 3 weeks out. Last year...
