Obviously the 8" will be louder because it is moving more air. However, to me the difference is negligible. Problems arise when they r attached directly to the structure (wall, framing, ect); they tend to vibrate. Vibration can be negated by installing a buffer between fan and structure.

Personally, I do not like tents. You already have a 5x7' closet, why put a tent in the space? I realize you are contemplating LED's, but with a smaller tent you will have to combat heat issues.
