DISCUSSION THREAD. MH bulbs are 4200k. Are they a waste of time?

Ceramic metal Halide will improve that spectrum but, needs to be matched to the right ballast. T5ho with 4000k bulbs were anemic compared to 6500k. Woody is right. T5ho can be kept an inch from plants with a fan on em. This keeps the lumens real close to MH that are 16 inches above. Less...

Is an 8 Lamp T5HO Okay For My Flowering Setup?

I agree 4' = better lumens and coverage. The get brighter at higher temps also, I think max is achieved at about 95 degrees. A couple 2 bulbs fixtures for sidelighting will help too. Bulbs from 1000bulbs.com are cheap like 1/10 the price.

T5 Bulbs, do t hey go bad?

T5's are usually rated at 20,000 hrs or 2.5years at 20 hrs a day. They get brighter as temps climb to 95f. At $3.10 each from 1000bulbs.com replacement should not be delayed past rated life.

Heat and Safety between T5HO and HPS

They do work. You must keep them within a few inches of the plant. They bulbs produces max lumens when the air temp is high (higher than the old T8's). This can be a problem in a ventilated space. Local electrical supply houses may sell for less but they're not in the horticultural business...

    Need DIAGNOSIS! Please!

Phosphoric acid from General Hydroponics is used to lower PH. Go easy with it. Also, I was told that Botanicare strips out the micro nutes from their formulas. So you must replace or loose the plants.

    Need DIAGNOSIS! Please!

Not really, I had the same thing happen in DWC with Botanicare hydro. I added a micro nute from a nursery with iron zinc boron and other trace elements and a bit of miracle grow. It seemed to help and the damage was confined to the lower leaves. I figured it was the cold temps I was dealing...

    Need DIAGNOSIS! Please!

I'm guessing they didn't get to 4ft tall if your macro nutes like cal mg are off. Aluminum copper and boron can all be toxic. But more likely you're missing some micro nute. Try a new brand of fertilizer for a bit (with different ratios).

    Need DIAGNOSIS! Please!

Try distilled water. Too much sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) can lock out nutes.
