some theory behind the color scheme here
my grow here will determine if it's the red light from flowering bulbs or the violet those same bulbs give off that are truly beneficial
bulbs
example using 400 watt metal halide (m59)
m59/o means it can go in an open fixture (the kind we want)
m59/e means it has to go in an enclosed fixture
m59/s means it has to go in an enclosed fixture unless it's vertical
i talked to a bulb company and they said cooling the bulb doesn't do...
Picture with some nice contrast lighting
Thanks for the comments. The lion's tail will be going outside in the spring into full sun. Pinto beans in soil are finishing and containers will be used to start tomatoes, bell peppers, and pepperoncini peppers for the outdoor garden. Ebb and flow...
5 days growth under the 420 460s
They really took off after I added another fan and again when I pointed the first one right at them
http://youtu.be/nCnPK5YtKOw
those are 3000ks at the start but only used them for a day or so
update:
i switched from 6500k bulbs to alternating 420nm/460nm (violet/blue) and they work great seeing change in growth from morning to night

1 week time-lapse coming soon
Distilled water works really well toward the end of the grow. In soil it gets all the nutrients out for the flush. In hydro all the tap water stuff builds up if you don't change your rez. You could change your rez less if you use distilled. People add cal-mag if using distilled because of the...
another good thing about t5's
they keep 95% of their lumens @ 20,000 hours, that is like 10+ grows
pic shows some good info on other types of lighting as well
When the jar of gel dries out (not completely just down to 1/4) then you can fill it up with water and use it over and over. A quart of Ona doesn't really fully work for a m2 grow but it does help, still some lingering smell. I don't think a bigger jar would have helped either. My buds were ok...
sometimes it takes just that long to transition to flower. although... lowering the temp will speed it up even if it's real low temp a few times not constantly
Here is a link to everything you didn't know you wanted to know about ballasts. It's only a page and a good read

Good info on THD... i knew something was up

sounds great i'm using 420nm and 460nm t5s that make a spectrum similar to 10000k. with the way it's growing i'm hoping they can take me through the whole cycle. i can see the growth difference from when i check them in the morning to when i check them at night. not the case with my regular...
Autos flower in the first three-four weeks in any light cycle. Thats what it says at the seedbank and from personal experience. Looks like it's not an auto at 35 days. For the sake of argument i'm sure some take longer to show even if they are autoflowering.
if you're going the cfl route instead of HID i would try t5 HO's. it would be good for a tent that size considering heat and electric plus you can put cool looking aquarium bulbs in it to get max par it actually works
