I agree, but photosynthesis requires light and if the leaves in question are in dark shade then the energy generated vs energy consumed becomes a topic of debate. I personally prefer to trim a few of the lower internal leaves in an effort to get more airflow around everything else.
I don't think that removing interior leaves hurts anything. If they're in shade then they aren't going to photosynthesize any sugars anyways, might as well open up some air flow. Don't get too crazy, just what's in dense shade.
You're not actually "flushing" at all, that is something you do with just plain water. Do you have any idea what the composition of your soil is? BioGrow is just a food for the beneficial bacteria in an organic system so if your soil is lacking in any nutrient, no amount of BioGrow would help...
Mine seemed stunted at first and went into flower when it was about a month old. It was definitely smaller than where I flip my photos. I chopped it at 65 days and got a little over 2 ounces dry. The buds were very dense, I would say that the strain would be great for beginners, I dumped on...
It's looking OK, the yellow leaves will never return to green. You have to watch the new growth to see how the plant is doing now and your top looks fine. Notice how the top split in 2 when you cut it? That was the whole reasoning behind cutting it, more bud sites... Do you have a fan on this...
Late reply, but I'm starting a DWC in a 2.1 gallon bucket. Trying to stay low profile with the res. I check on my girls multiple times a day anyways so if I have to water every other day, no big deal to me. My first ever hydro grow, I'm an organic soil man. The little aero garden got my wheels...
Your plant may just be going through a period of shock brought on by the transplant and topping. Any idea what your soil PH is and the PH of your watering solution?
Dr. Krippling Incredible Bulk auto was a great performer for me. Outyielding most of my photo plants done in the same space. Fat colas of nice dense buds.
I'm on the LED bandwagon too. They run so much cooler, I bet summer grows that were once too hot could be done with LED without a heat problem at all. My temps dropped 10 degrees from CFL to LED and I actually had to put a couple CFL bulbs back in as side lighting just to keep the temps optimal.
The Alg stuff from Bio Biz is designed to be used by stressed plants, young seedlings, fresh transplants, after a flush, etc. Use that after your next repot (which should be your final repotting) and try not to go crazy on the nutes. Less is more in that arena. Nute burn can stunt a plant worse...
Check out www.spacebuckets.com they'll have some great ideas for you. Paint the inside white. The light reflecting off of it will be much brighter than the bare wood. Be sure to let it dry completely before putting any plants back in I put a budzilla back into a cabinet I had painted a couple...
I was pretty impressed with CFL too. It can definitely produce top quality buds but the efficiency isn't there and the yield suffers. In my opinion, it is best to mix light types for a microgrow. Just my opinion.
I swapped a couple days ago and have the LED about 12 inches away and 2 40 watt CFL bulbs for sidelighting (and to keep the temps up a bit) looking very happy. Maybe 2 or 3 weeks left.
I realize this is a late reply but; Supersoil organic soil or a less ambitious person could do 1:1 fox farms ocean forest and happy frog in a 3-5 gallon pot with a cheap LED like a galaxy hydro 300. Dr. Krippling Incredible Bulk auto is a good yielder for a stoney indica and mine finished in...
38!?!?!?!? Wow. I just set mine to about 12 to 14. My Galaxyhydro 300 just showed up today so they've been under it for about an hour now. Running very cool compared to the CFL.
