Still talking 4+ years to pay that back.

Struggling with cloning - need 30-60 per month

I took 60 cuts at about the same time. Put 30 clones in my Clone King 36 and 30 in rockwool cubes... they all rooted fine in about the same time. For me rockwool is less maintenance, less to go wrong and gets the same results as an aerocloner. Since then I've just used rockwool. No clone...

    Water cooled COBs

Thanks :) They're running at 33.5V and 620mA each so just over 20W. In terms of efficiency these are supposed to be 119 lm/w (90 CRI so the PAR is probably higher than the lumens would suggest) at 37.3W and 85C. I've estimated I'm getting around 133lm/w by running them at 20W and water cooling...

Calling all COB experts. Advice needed

The heatsink can run upto melting point without any real issues... Then it'd melt away! 120f is nothing to worry about. The COBs themselves will prefer a temp under 85C but you can run them a little higher. 105C is still safe but I wouldn't want to run them above that personally.

DIY - Cheap China Cob panel Build+Grow

I have done it. Check my loft build thread on here. I ran 4x 600w each in a 4x4 area. I yielded around 1800g total from 2400w. So 0.75 gpw. They are advertised as putting out 80-90lm/W. I'd estimate it to be more like 70lm/W despite my units being water cooled. I have recently switched to...

    Water cooled COBs

We generally have cool temps in the UK other than summer days (which are the only time we consistently get above 22C) I'd love to have an underfloor heating setup. 2kW running 24/7 (2 staggered areas running 12h each) would heat up a kitchen and bathroom floor nicely. That's my longterm goal...

    Clones growing more than rooting?

18 days in an aerocloner and only 1 has rooted? Something is wrong. Are there any issues with your water?

Would you cut down this grow or use Spinosad?

He is super enthusiastic and highly personable but I would take what he has to say with a pinch of salt.

    Autopot Medium

I had a bag hydroton to use up :) I'd have been equally happy with perlite. In fact my hempies have perlite in their bottom 2 inches for exactly the same effect.

    Photo EXIF data stripping

So I realised a few months back that RIU does not strip your EXIF data from uploaded images. This can be an issue if you upload an image off your phone and accidentally had GPS geotagging enabled. The GPS data can be used to locate your grow which might be an issue if you're not legal or could...

    Autopot Medium

I've done 2 inches of hydroton at the bottom (Hydroton or Perlite at the bottom stops rot so is essential). Then I went with coco/perlite 60:40 mix as I read this got good results when I was getting it setup. Works beautifully for my mothers. For 6 mums I just need to top up the 47L reservoir...

    R.O. filtration.

Hook it up to a 100L "rainwater" butt via an auto fill valve. Instructions available on YouTube and takes 10 mins to do. You just keep the unit running and it keeps the butt topped up then stops. You always have 100L available so the filtration time becomes a non-issue.

    Twisteds Shed at a standstill

Let's work backwards from your needs as a starting point. You need 2 Oz a month. Say 8 Oz per harvest if you do 3 per year. That's easily achievable under a 315w LEC. So that's great you don't need to change your lighting. In terms of space you could use a 3x6 area for flower and veg/keep...

Calling all COB experts. Advice needed

Nah, that the bar chart was the one I was looking for. Thanks :) The second image is one I ripped from the Chandra paper and posted here... lol @ it coming back at me The numbers 20,23,30,35,40 stand for temp. They found canopy temps of 30C give the most photosynthesis by quite a way. As soon...

Calling all COB experts. Advice needed

Thanks for posting that. I've not seen this discussed before; the chart is not "% of maximum photosynthesis" it is "% of maximum photosynthesis per 100ppfd" That suggests that increasing light upto 1500ppfd does not actually have diminishing returns. It increases photosynthesis for *each...

    the HLG-600H thread

Im sure you know this but what is interesting to me is that you can't force more voltage through LEDs than the current will support. So I actually have my driver's set to max voltage (37.8V) and max current (supposed to be 16.7A). CLU046-1212s are min 31.8V, type 34.6V, max 37.5V. Running 30...

Ideal is debatable. Google "Photosynthetic response of Cannabis sativa L. to variations in photosynthetic photon flux densities, temperature and CO2 conditions Chandra" and download the PDF. You'll see there is an increase in photosynthesis rates upto 1500ppfd. However, above 1000 you're...
