Is This 10 Watt LED Good Enough to Grow?

Hell yea, those little spotlights look awesome, although you'd probably need a few of them and that could get expensive. $60 for 10W is a pretty poor ratio, you could make something similar yourself with more wattage for cheaper. Just mho.

$4/W before any sort of discount (or knowing the true wattage). I think I'd pass even if I had the bucks. I like the idea, though.

I really like how you epoxy the drivers to the heat sink. Nice thinkin'. 8-) Happy growin'!

First time grower experimenting with cheap LEDs

Last pic looks like a male preflower to me. The first pic looks borderline to me, I think it could go either way, and I can't make out the second pic. Preflowers don't always determine the sex of the plant, but they're a good indication. Fingers crossed for a girl!

    Dimable ballast

^^^ Sounds excellent. Sorry, I should have asked this last night. Is noise an issue? Could you mount the fan remotely in an attic maybe? Some of these inlines sound like jet engines. If this is your bedroom closet it could be absolutely obnoxious if you're trying to sleep while the lights are...

    Dimable ballast

90 degrees is pushing it, imo. So long as you have a nice place to draw in fresh air from and exhaust the heat to I'd make a cool tube top priority. The bad part is inline fans are kind of expensive. What's your budget? For now, I'd say dim the bulb to the point that temps are no longer an...

    Dimable ballast

This thread seems like a good place to start: https://www.rollitup.org/newbie-central/373420-400w-mh-light-distance.html This graph portrays non-dimmable HPS bulbs at different wattages and distances from your canopy, but I still feel it's relatively pertinent. How are you cooling the...

    1st Time Farmer! (1) HTG "432"W 7 band (1) A51-60 + CFL - Coco Hempy Bucket

I'd add a capful of Hydrogen Peroxide to my next batch of water (roughly a capful per gallon, try not to overdo it). >>>Also, better air circulation should help get rid of the mold.<<< I've even heard Cinnamon can help specifically with White fuzzy mold on jiffy pucks, but never tried it. Good...

Ha. I just took a little bit from here, little bit from there: Kessil, meets Astir, meets a lucky day on Alibaba. You're going remote phosphor?! Awesome, dude. First remote phosphor used for horticultural purposes? Or was there a Philips bulb used somewhere that I missed? Ah, doesn't matter...

LED DIY : Making of a "DJ SET "-style grow led light .

Nice idea, PetFlora. http://www.twistedpearaudio.com/control/jt.aspx You don't need those high quality vishy dales. You still get to use an "analogue" potentiometer and knob as a control device.

Led light from seed to harvest...

That says ~90-100W consumption and it's $188. Not even close to $1/W. I do admire their honesty, though, apart from some of the comparisons they make between their product line and modular panels. And checking out the illuminated pics I like their choice of spectrum. Appears to be a quality...

Chronikool’z LED + Organic + SOG + Party cup perpetual ‘boxes of fun’ grow!™

Due to the fact that all the chips are so close with no primary optics (read wide viewing angle, ~140-160 degrees) in multichip LED's I almost feel that they will achieve very good spectral "mixing" regardless of chip placement. Also, it'd most likely be very difficult to selectively coat...

Growing Weed On My Balcony For The First Time

It was an outdoor grow, and Bella turned out to be a dude. Donna was planted late in a ?3gal? pot and yielded maybe a half-oz with a pretty extensive spider mite infestation. The rest of my plants got jacked by people who I thought were my friends (the ones in my backyard got jacked, the ones on...

Growing Weed On My Balcony For The First Time

Get big pots to put your plants in -as big as possible- and don't skimp on how much soil you give them, either. Seriously, I put a single plant in an unused recycling bin and you wouldn't believe how big the root ball got. I'd say grow less plants if it means you can give each plant more soil...

    Best LED's for 2013

I hear what Corso is saying, however, I think there will be a used market for previous gen LED panels given quality control was in order per the brand in question. And if the panels grow good bud then where's the real incentive to upgrade to bleeding edge? It's not $20k in the trash just 'cause...

LED DIY : Making of a "DJ SET "-style grow led light .

^^^^ That's what I'm talking about. Then attach some adjustable light hanger "anchors" to the panel so you can adjust the pitch, angle, and height all from two light hangers. Think of a hose clamp, hand adjustable. Does this make sense?
