Are unprotected classes fair?

Rob is the only one who gets the point. I wanted for people to think of those not protected. Not getting affirmative action, etc. You can NEVER have no discrimination with protected classes. It doesn't guarantee none, but why make discrimation on purpose?

Are you aware that as a US soldier you give up many of your "rights" to serve, one of which is "freedom to associate" ;)

I think requiring elected officials be held to the same standards of the UCMJ may go a long way in cleaning up DC ...

so they cant chew gum, walk on grass or put their hand in their pocket

One thing i think is important to point out, though personally I am not sure it is justified, but vegan, long hair, and pot smoker and all choices and can easily be altered if you feel doing such would provide a measurable improvement in your life. Being Black, White, Arab, and (according to most) Homosexual are not choices, we are born with no way to change it. I think that's the biggest line we draw in discrimination, however that is all changing in the past few years with things like cracking down on bullying and other similar offences. Thing we once saw as a a normal part of life are now becoming illegal so in time you may get your wish for better or for worse. Soon things like calling someone an asshole with result in arrests, we are giving up all our freedoms to rules and regulations just like the one you are requesting. I understand why, and see good merit in your suggestion but feel to try and offer legal protection from social response for every single individuality may not be the right option.

Vegan is a choice but homosexual is not? You choose to not eat humans? Smoking pot is BAD but coffee is GOOD? Hair is only good to a certain length? Why can't people mind their fucking own business? What if I don't like your eye color, wear contacts bitch!

Can we at least require a Hippocratic type oath from our elected officials whom send our soldiers to war and spend our children's money? You know like "to do no harm" type, and then hold them accountable by law for their actions that way? Currently we have a lack of accountability problem in Washington DC ...

Everyone wants to think they are special when the truth is we all have our own issues and our own problems. Its the number 1 reason when I see the race card thrown out, I am done with that person. We all have our mountains to overcome. We are all discriminated against in some ways or another. You overcome or dont, no excuses.

I'm part of three unprotected classes: vegan, long hair and marijuana user. All three of those you can discriminate against. But the moment you call it religion or race, you get in trouble. Chicken or pork meat on my desk, funny. But Arab/black, hate crime.
I don't think any of these are "classes". A feature of class is very limited intermobility. The three distinctions you've listed ... can be discontinued essentially at whim. What is to elevate your contention from a simple instance of assumed victimhood? That's not a slam, but a genuine question.

I belong to two of the three categories you listed. But I don't for a moment feel that the two (my pot use and my quite long hair) in any way consign me to a class. cn

yea what he said, lol it took 3 pages of text an my point didn't come out as clear as yours. That's what I meant

Point being you cant have an unprotected class without people reconizing it as a class first.

Its like someone being discriminated against for being left handed. No one will take you seriously untill you make enough noise to convince righties that you truly are at a disadvantage. Like that construction worker who lost an eye because the saw gaurd was on the opposite side designed for right handed user.

About 80% of the programmers I know/work with have long hair. They make six figures, wouldn't call that being discriminated against. Most of them smoke too, and almost every programmer I know has a ridiculous diet. Whether it be vegan or raw food only. In the current job market I don't think anyone is being discriminate against. I've met engineers with sleeves for fucks sake. I also haven't seen any racism in my work environment either, although the majority of programmers I know are either white, Indian, or South Pacific Asian, it doesn't mean they wouldn't get the job if they were black or Latino or islander etc.
I guess it still exists, but it's not out in the open, at least in my experience.

Imagine acting as a "Whistle blower" working for a huge powerful corporation. As the "Harassment" of you and your family becomes too much to handle you file for the government protections offered. These forms specifically require you to disclose your Race, Age and Sex to the government. Imagine now, as a decorated veteran, you receive an official letter stating that you are a white male under 50 and have no protections offered under these laws. Is this equality under the law? Why did I risk my life serving this country? Are the "unprotected" here not an intended victim? Affirmative Action has changed the lives of my family and I more than any true war has :( What happened to content of character ...
why are you writing in crayon you fucking child?

Bear,
A vegan diet isn't a whim. Would you all of a sudden eat aborted humans? Pot is medicine for me. Would you call insulin a whim? Why is mental health a whim? I'd have probably killed someone by now. Is my killing worth another's sense of control?

I think fasting is dangerous for your health. It should be banned. Employers should be alled to check your vitals with blood and urine tests. If they find you've been fasting, they commit you and give electoshock once you've been nurished.

That's what I thought punk!

Knowing what she knows today, would your mother have got an abortion to spare society?

I was ordering a vegan pizza. This girl ahead of me was too. She also ordered a latte and asked if it could be ordered with soymilk. He only has almond, she responds, even better. She had a huge lipring. I felt like tearing it out. Why not? Stupid cunt.
