You people make me sick. Tell me whats wrong with making the rich pay more taxes.
They pay more, not only in raw dollars, but also as a percentage of income.
About 30% of my check goes to taxes. The super rich pays about 15% from their checks.
Those numbers are misleading... The rich pay a higher percentage of income if it is earned (pay earned from a salary, hourly, etc... earned by performing a job) The 15% number you have been told is the tax rate on capital gains, which you would pay the same tax rate on if you have non-retirement investments. The money that is used to earn investment income has been taxed already at the higher rates.
Whats fair about that. I have to live from paycheck to paycheck. 99% of the rich don't know whats thats like.
What fair about taking claim to 35% of one person's life, while taking claim to only 10% of someone elses?
You think that 99% of the rich were born with that income? Mark Cuban lived on his friend's couch while he was building broadcast.com. Chris Gardner lived in homeless shelters, working for free, while raising a child before he became a millionaire. Andrew Carnegie worked 72 hour weeks at a cotton mill before he thought up of the blast furnace. Oprah Winfrey wore potato sack dresses growing up. Not all the rich started poor, but most of them had been at one time or another.
It also pisses me off when u call people on unemployment lazy. They had to work at one time to quallify for it.
Just being on unemployment isn't lazy, but staying on it for 99 weeks is... There are areas in the country where unemployment is very low (I work in one), all you have to do is move. The company I work for is having a hell of a time finding qualified people. They can also take a lower paying job - I've had to do it before. With this in mind, laziness might not be the correct word... I'm thinking more along the lines of pride in most cases.
