Short Ryder Feminized under 250 Watt HPS in Small Grow Tent

Hey ya'll, I posted this in the indoor forum but thought I would do an actual journal for my little babies. I bought a 5 pack of Nirvana's Short Ryder Feminized and planted them in soil a little more than a week ago. Of the three, all three sprouted and have popped up so I am impressed with the health of the seeds.

First of all, here is the growing setup as it is right now:View attachment 1507990
Like I mentioned it is a small 20"x36"x63" grow tent currently located in a second bedroom. Eventually I want to put it in the closed of the spare bedroom. I am using a 250 watt HPS 6" cool-tube for light supplemented with a 45 watt LED panel for fun. Right now I do not have the ventilation set up but have a 6" carbon filter, and two inline 6" fans. My plan is to attach one fan to the filter and then ducted to the light, then the second fan from the light to the exhaust.

From seed they have been in small 4" clay pots with gasp, miracle grow garden soil. Before I planted the seeds I ran a sit ton of water through the soil to try and wash as much miracle grow crap out as I could. So far though the little seedlings seem to be happy in their first home. I have read that auto's don't particularly like to be transplanted too much, so in a week or so when they are bigger, I am going to put them in their final home, either some 3 gallon grow bags or plastic pots. The only thing I have done to them is yesterday I watered them with a molasses solution. Didn't really measure, just poured a bit in the watering can and added water. Also, I have so far just used tap water.

Here are some nice close ups of the three little girls:

I am off to the garden store today to get some supplies and will let you know what nutrients I got and when I plan to use them. Also, I should get some more ventilation supplies so I might need some advice/help with that.

Anyways, thanks for looking and please subscribe and comment. I am excited to see how these babies grow!

First of all, I switched the HPS bulb for a MH to help the plants veg. Once they show signs of flowering, I will switch back to HPS. I also added two 4' flourescent lights with GE plant/aquarium bulbs for a total of 160 more watts. So all in all I have 250 watt MH, 160 watts of flourescent, and 45 watts of LED for a grand total of 455 watts of light.
Here is a pic of the grow tent with fluorescent lights but still HPS:008.jpg

I also transplanted the seedlings into their final homes; 5 Gallon Grow Bags. I also labeled the plants 1-5 to track their individual progress.

Plant 2:006.jpg007.jpg

Plant 3:003.jpg005.jpg

To help with the transplant shock, I watered with a solution of molasses and SuperThrive. My plan is to wait for the soil to dry out before hitting them again with water.

Here are some picture updates. I numbered the plants so we can track their individual growth. I haven't watered in a few days since transplanted into the 5 gallon bags and they still don't need it. I am going to wait until they are relatively thirsty before I water them. Not much else to add. My temps were a little high at plant level so I raised the light. But all in all, they are looking good. I can't wait for the other two to sprout up. Should be any time now.

As you can see, number three is the runt. I broke some of the taproot when transplanting. unfortunately, but she is showing signs of growth, so she should recover fully.

Here is a picture update. I took them out side yesterday to let them soak in some sunshine and get a nice drink of water with half strength nutes. They are definitely getting bigger! Also I have to introduce #4 who popped up on Saturday. Anyways, on to the pictures...

Here is an update. The plants are looking great and definitely growing. The temps in the tent were too warm so I re-arranged my in line fans and ordered a third. So by Friday I will have one blowing into the light, one sucking air out of the light and on sucking air from my carbon filter out. I also moved the tent into the closet so I can be even more stealth. The only problem is explaining why it sounds like I have fans running in the closet! Anyways, on with the pictures.

The two large white pots on the sides in the back row should be sprouting any day. They are Blue Hash and Blue Widow. Both free seeds when I made a recent purchase from Attitude. My plan is to veg them while my short ryders are growing and once they are done, switch the lights to 12/12. Once they sprout I will start a grow journal for them.

Not much to report. Plants are still doing well and continue to grow. The top of the soil is dry so I will either water with full strength grow nutes today or tomorrow. Thanks for stopping in!

On Sunday I took them outside and watered them with nutes. They seem to be loving the nutes and are really shooting out side growth. Enjoy the pictures.

i remeber when chica` was that small.........lookin great...... hey whut was ur ppm when u watered........and whut nutes r u using??????
I don't have a ppm meter so I have no idea. I am using mollases and Botanicare's Pure Blend Pro Grow. I saw the first lady part on #2 last night so next watering I will be using a transition of half grow and half bloom, then onto full bloom after that.

Nice. Ppm isn't terribly important to moniter in soil. Make sure you're not over doing it of course... just listen to the plants like you're doing.
