Pope Grows Dope

Hiya,

First real indoor grow here.
My objectives for this grow is to get one under my belt, and try to keep it as close to the K.I..S.S. method as my adhd riddled brain will allow.
I will be happy if I successfully get three plants through their life cycle. I will be ecstatic if I hit my goal of 3 ounces of dried flower from this grow.

. Please feel free to provide constructive criticism and guidance. I am here to learn.

My tent is a 4 by 4 by 6 vivosun tent.
I have an sf1000 and an s4000 for lighting.
2 - 6 inch fans.
Generic 6 inch inline fan and an AC Infinity filter.
All my cordage is above my lighting? And plugged into a

Lessons I've learned since popping my first bean that was not from bag seed:

1. I am not as dexterous as I think I am, and my workspace is disorganized. I lost 3 seeds due to the gravitational pull of my desk, which devours anything small and a little expensive.

2. Seedlings are more fragile than you think. Of the three Forbidden Fruit seeds (of which fantasies pounds of smoke-able perfection hinged on), only one did not get lost to the aforementioned desk. Unfortunately her tap root started to climb. The girl had to be removed and replanted. Despite taking as much care as possible to not damage her, I was unable to extract her unscathed.

3. LED lights can really get f@#$ing hot. The SF4k is an older model, prior to the dimmable controller. When testing the light out, on the hottest day of the year, I recorded 109 degrees.
This was before installing my inline fan and carbon filter. I think I need to test the light again, now with the additional ventilation to see how worried I should be about heat when the girls outgrow the sf1k that I am currently starting with.

Anywho, thanks fer taking a peep.

Do you hav a pic of the driver? You may be able to add a dimmer yourself. Any dimmer leads or connections? Or if you took a pic of its spec label?

The SF4K has a elg-240-48a driver, best I can tell there might be a means to adjust it manually, but would require dismounting the driver, not quite feeling that work around.

It should be fairly easy to do, but check with SF (they are here on the forum) regarding making modifications, it may null the warranty (even though it seems stupid to me, its just some screws and it will make your light last longer). The A type is screwdriver in hole type dimming, not ideal but weve managed like that for many years. You could also source another driver and a dimmer. Beats light burning your seedlings at least.

That's why I was utilizing the SF1K :)
Good news, with the inline fan installed, the heat in my tent is staying in the high 80's, when using the more powerful light. I assume the further we get into fall, the temps will continue to be more suitable for my girls.

I finally have my plants in their final pots

I am using The Bomb as my medium (https://paoniasoilco.com/products/the-bomb/)
being new to the hobby, and not finding what I was planning on getting (promix or roots organic) I perhaps let my anxiety get the best in my, and was sold this as a "super soil," suggesting that I would "just make sure [my} water's PH was adjusted."

As far as results, my plants look mostly happy. I am seeing a small amount of yellowing on the most mature of the plants, and a little bit of leaf damage on the youngest of my plants.

As always, please feel free to provide any tips. Trying to keep my first grow as close to the KISS ethos as possible, but I am here to learn from the experience of the forum.

its been a quick minute but we're in week 4 of veg after 8-9 weeks in vedge. the canopy is a hair under 3 ft from the base of the plant. Terps are starting to smell, and trichomes are dusting the sugar leaves.

having a blast with this first grow, looking forward to my next run.

Nice!
Your on the home straight now, i'd be tempted to let them run a bit longer to ripen off a bit more, but it depends how bad your gnat problem is!

Your on the home straight now, i'd be tempted to let them run a bit longer to ripen off a bit more, but it depends how bad your gnat problem is!

the gnats are not too bad, but I am also getting ready for my next run and getting my starts ready for the spring. I want to get them started so I can start flowing in my tent early spring, and get 6 girls intermixed (hopefully of clones from my next run) with my tomatoes and peppers outdoors.

and honestly, the excitement of being a step closer to smoking my first home grow makes me tingle.

Last night and today I trimmed my plants and set them to dry before curing. RH is at 63.
wet weight was approx 1200g
Hulkberry - 344g
RedRuntz (1) - 480g
RedReuntz (2) - 440g

the range of how much predicted loss of weight during drying seems to be between 25 to as much as 70%. with 13 oz projected on the lower end, it will obliterate my 1 to 2 ounces per plant marker I was hoping to collect.

not included in my weight are collections of trim and larf. might add another 200g or so to the total weight.

Of course, all will be revealed in a week or so.
20241224_174545.jpg

I missed a couple stalks of the Hulkberry, which I will use to test dryness.

After an accidental, bone head move of forgetting to turn my lights off after having a peek, my 60/63rh tent became a 90/40rh tent for a few hours, speeding up the drying process a bit too fast. Since I was able to bend a stemp and have it snap, but not break off completely, i moved into off brand grove bags for the cure.

weight was at 11 ounces of bud. Including and additional ounce plus of sugar trim and larf. 3/4s of a lb for my first grow, and I am pleased as punch.

Well I got some christmas mushrooms that are kicking in. Going to try to plan my next run and see if I can squeeze in my first auto run while i have garden starts getting ready for spring, then turn around and start a photo run that would be ready to go into flower by early June, with clones from cuttings being ready to sit outdoors at the same time, if not maybe overlapping a little (trying to max out my state limit).

Be kind to yourself and others.

So while I talk a lot about trying to get a stash of Forbidden Fruit going, after reading that at best I might get a facsimile of the strain from companies branding white label seeds, I decided, at least for the moment, and go into another direction.

With a combination of BOGO and other discounts I walked away with 5 strains, 51 seeds, and paid like 3 dollars per.
I had a hard time finding many (homegrower) critics of the breeder.

Ended up with
C99
Grimm Glue BX
C99 X Riddle OG
Purple Urkle X Genios.
222

High hopes for the Grimm Glue and the Purple Urkle 99 x Genius.

This weekend I will clean out the the tent, and hopefully have my new girls on their way.
If you've grown or smoked these, would love to know your opinions.

For some reason refreshing usps tracking didn't speed up delivery, but my beans came in. Decided to start 2 seeds each of the 222, Grimm glue bx and the PU99xGenius. 20250106_140941.jpg20250106_140928.jpg

Since I had a lot of issues moving my cotton pad germinated seeds into their seedling pots I opted to start directly in Jiffy pucks.
In less than 72 hours, with the help of a heating mat, 5 of the 6 seeds have already, or are starting to, break through their peat homes (but not through comedian Pete Holmes).

They are appearing more purple than expected, but I assume that its normal, until they die lol.

Woah, its been a minute. Glad I can continue to post, again.

20250201_113344.jpg20250201_124544.jpg
4 weeks after my post I had 5 healthy girls in the tent. After uppotting, each girl got their initial topping.
I was happy to give the two girls I did not plan to take to maturity to a friend who helped me get my first grow started.

Last weekend, at about 6 weeks from planting seeds, I began applying clips to some bushy ladies.

Maybe it is the newb in me, but I think I might want to promote some stretching during the seedling in my next grow. Let me know if this is a silly silly idea.

As long as they remain manageable I might go for an extended veg through early April. I would like to delay flowering until I can get my outdoor grow ready to transplant outdoors.

Next season I intend to get an additional 2x2 to add flexibility, and possibly a home for a dedicated mother plant.

I might have created a problem for myself in starting my tomatoes a bit early. And then some peppers... 20250223_150950.jpg
The tomatoes are in reused coco from my first grow, and seeds left from my first attempt at gardening last spring, so if they become unmanageable I will deepsix them with little remorse.
I am not too worried about the peppers

Gracias.
