That's because engineers don't want to run the companies, too much paperwork.one the problems with ford and gm is bad investments. gm bought saab and have lost money on it. ford bought jaguar and lost money on it. gm spent billions in china, which will take at least 30 years to see a profit, if ever. and there many more examples.
in the good old days the auto execs were car guys. remember lee iacocca? when iacocca was the president of ford he bleed ford blue. when he took over chrysler the government bailed chrysler out and the government got repaid, with interest.
when john delorean was with gm, when they would build a new hotrod, he would take it out to woodward blvd and street race it to make sure it was what it was supposed to be.
the car execs today don't drive their own brands, and I imagine that most of them have never even popped the hood on a car.
My new screen saver. Thanks, ANC.
GM and Ford are dumping quite a few of these brands and scaling down their model line quite a bit. IMO the auto bailouts are silly that money should have gone to unemployment and re-education benefits for the out of work factory employees. GM and Ford are still very much alive, GM is even planning on manufacturing a new electric under the Chevy brand.one the problems with ford and gm is bad investments. gm bought saab and have lost money on it. ford bought jaguar and lost money on it. gm spent billions in china, which will take at least 30 years to see a profit, if ever. and there many more examples.

The only reason Detroit cars have been improved at all is because other countries cars put them to shame. If in the 70's the Govt. had barred Japanese cars from being sold in the US we'd all still be driving Impala's and Oldsmoblie's. They only seem to get off their union asses when they get their heads handed to them by small foreign people.that's where we disagree...I think american cars are better than they ever were.
I agree, I don't think Jax could tell a carburetor from a tool softener. I'm still trying to get the front strut rods un frozen on my deuce, Got one to budge a little, they are really stuck. Once I can set up my front end, I'm going to get it registered, then add the frame bars and rear traction controllers and head for the strip. I'm hoping for 11s, I know 12s wont be a problem.
Yeah and I'll bet you also have a mechanic to fix all your toys. Like I said, you dont know a carburetor from a tool softener.Well, let's see... I have a 250, a 350, a toyota, 6 wheeler atv, airboat, tractor. Nope...don't know a thing.
No carb's tho...no junkers either, which tend to be the same thing.
out.

time to get the breaker bar out..I agree, I don't think Jax could tell a carburetor from a tool softener. and all the newer models have chrome plated muffler bearings...they don't even make a tool for that....I'm not sure if you have a newer model auto, but they are designed NOT to be worked on at home. There is very little that can be done to them other than fluids, batteries, etc...
Try and keep up.
