THE FUTURE IN LEDS's!!!

Yea.... because surely I'd have to have a high post count here and been a member for a long time in order to be able to have the experience necessary to tell people information that is completely baseless and fallacious.
Yet for some reason in every one of these LED threads it is always someone with a recent join date and a low post count who is claiming LEDs are the shit. And oddly enough their supporters make their first post in their defense from proven methods of experienced growers all the while never offer a shred of pictorial evedence. I have read multiple threads like this one that always end the same. The LED saleman opens a new account under a new name and starts a new thread claiming LEDs are the best thing since the wheel. See ya in the next thread sucker:finger:

I never made claims to LED superiority in any fashion other than PAR light per watt. And even light per watt(up to 130-160 lm/W). Which is a *fact*. It only stands to reason at equivalent wattage LEDS would out-perform HID(HPS/MH specifically) for growing plants. MH is technically superior to HPS as well. Check out Hortilux lights, they have a dual HPS/MH bulb. I've seen some very impressive grows with them. Beats solo-HPS easily.

LPS, or low pressure sodium emits 200 lm/W('best light EVAR' in web-speak). They also emit their light at around 589-590 nm. Pretty much useless for plants.

NASA has proven (red & blue) LEDs work to grow plants, *fact*.

LEDs will grow marijuana, *fact*.

What is it with people and *facts*?

Let me take a swing at it:

Most people(at least the LOUD ones) here have a complete lack of understanding about the spectrum and intensities of light required for optimal plant growth and photosynthesis. They go around stating baseless and fallacious information. Making comparisons where they ought not.

You seem to be in that category.

Plant growth is a SCIENCE. Not Voodoo.

You disclaiming my statements based on my post count only demonstrates your complete foolishness and lack of understanding. :dunce:

anyone could grow a tree under a hps then stick it under led's to make us all like yea man i want lights like that....

point is led's are crap whatever way you look at it!!
but this is how i look at it!!!

£1,500 led's
or
£150 hps

with the £1,350 spare change i would kit the shit out of my grow room..

who wouldnt??

No, BECAUSE if You ppl would READ more, its already been said! Like I said, learn then talk!

Lots of things are stated. How many are actually proven/rational/demonstrated? You believe everything you read? No fact checking... no rational thought... no critical thinking...? Gotcha... I think. :?

I get my reliable information from sources NOT trying to sell me ANYTHING, and sources NOT trying to BOAST about their yield, or whatever.

I'll certainly side with the decade plus research by numerous universities and even NASA on using LEDs for plant growth over any single grower's experience -any day.

EDIT: It's like Windows Vista. People talk shit about it that haven't even USED IT!

What's the etiquette on talking shit about other's bag of weed when your smoking it? Keep your fucking mouth shut, unless you got better and are willing to smoke it. Apply some of that etiquette to life.

Yes, I think. Yes, I experiment. NO I will not waste $1500 on wat has been proved to be the LEAST efficient way of doing something. In order to use LED's that would compare w/even 400W of CFL's, I would have to invest almost $2000 for all materials and products! (Yes, I DO research, do you?) If LED's will EVER be comparable over all, it will NOT be in MY lifetime. The proof is documented, get proof otherwise!

I personally don't see the value of LEDs(like you said, EXPENSIVE). Which turns me off, as you are, apparently. That doesn't mean they don't work! I've been an organic gardener since the age of 5(helping ma & pa)! If I can grow corn, tomatoes, squash, peas, carrots, celery, onions, herbs(fresh basil <3), etc. I think I can manage growing weed.

Separate your logic from your emotion. Sounds like something Spock would say.... ;)

those led side by side pics are fake. I spent 4000 dollars us to get a "Real" led lighting top for my aquarium. The brightest leds in the world are indeed brighter than hps. Mine are 163 lumens per watt. in 2009 the price was not worth it. My fixture has Cree and Luxion leds. They cost 20 dollars each individually. It is 400 watts. add it up. A little more lumens and no heat but for ten times the start up cost. those led light bulbs that you see that are blue and red. Those are chinease made super bright leds that maybe give you 60 lumen /watt. Not yet worth it. My aquarium fixture could vedge insane though. its noticeably brighter than 400 watt metal. Check out Cree and luxion for real leds and Led wholesalers.com for cheap bulbs and panels like those coloured ones. don't waste your time unless you spend the bucks.

One thing though. That ufo system is real. its 700$ and is decent for one medium plant. It is 90 watts and they are name brand leds. but one hps for 50$ from home depot that is 70 watts can also grow a medium sized plant. Wait 2 years. i wish i di for my aquarium.

lol man what a terrible guess !!!

how the hell did you work out that crappy led panel is equivelent to 800w hps LOL @ THAT COMMENT

DO SOME RESEARCH BEFORE POSTING A SILLY THREAD LIKE THIS LOL !!!
damn bro you do some research before you come on here saying that. you dont know if it does for a fact or not. check out the manufactures' site, lumigrow.com
