A sobering fact, or in my case a really good reason to get fucked up, was a poll that came out today with the election a little over a year away.

This poll showed that the race to become the 47th POTUS was tied between an old man and a criminal.

Now that shouldn't really be a surprise considering this is America, the land of the free and the home of a shit load of dummies.

This poll taken by NBC news showed that they were tied at 46% each with Bidens favorability rating at the lowest in his presidency, with 56% thinking he sucks while only 41% approving of his accomplishments.

If Biden were to run against DeSantis he would beat him by only 1%, 46% to 45%.

This stat is a brain twister to me where 41% like his economic policies while 56% disapprove and at the same time 55% like their economic standings. (WTF?)

Here's another good one, where 46% of women like Trump, that misogynistic adulterer.
And do you want some better news ala the Washington Post?
Well, you ain't gonna get any today
They have Trump up by 52 to 41%.

So, as that catchy tune goes, God bless America,

Because it seems that it needs a miracle to survive the shit show that is approaching rapidly.

Peace out /stay stoned

Tbh...not sure who will win and it blows my mind that is the case. The Republican option is just so bad, I'm baffled by people that would consider it. Democrats should be working hard now to boost biden, they don't really have a different option or any sort of person waiting in the wings so need to make the best of it. Longer term, they should try and figure out why they are losing support and what to do about it...people just don't like them, but it doesn't seem to really be rooted in policy, however the dems do just sort of dismiss it as Fox brainwashing or whatever.

They should focus on the midwest and upper midwest, most states are already decided so it's pointless running up the board in solid blue areas, you don't win by appeasing the coasts. Another round or two of stimulus checks would be a good move and sell it hard as fighting inflation and helping the little guy. Think it's great biden is going to the UAW strikes, the Democrats are seen as the party of elites now and should work on their blue collar support to make sure they hold onto certain states.

Overall, I'm not that optimistic about the outcome and hope I am wrong. They can't keep relying on Trump being horrible and being not him. If they start in with "blue no matter who" then they will lose.

Edit: everyone dumped on that poll with trump way way up as being nonsense.

Actually, the race is between two old men. One of them is a criminal and the other is a competent chief executive.

The sane among is are hoping like hell that the race for the 47th POTUS isn’t until 2028.

Democrats need to be unflinching in characterizing Republican intentions as seditious. They mean to scuttle the republic.

The media should be unflinching in publishing them.

Let me make a comment on this thread seeing as no one else is.

Were you able to watch that powerful example of the Art of Political debate tonight?

Were you as enthralled as I, raptured by the witless banter of all those aspiring to rule America and by association the World?

We had Tom Scott and that Indian/American dude trying to out Trump Trump by railing against birthright citizenship and Tiktoc.

Speaking about Tictoc, Nikki Haley wants age restrictions placed on it so only those older than 16 can use it because it will lead to those younger to doing all sorts of bad things.
DeSantis and Cristi worked on calling Trump a pussy for not showing up.
Pence declared that God was on his side.

Trump was in Michigan at a non-union auto parts manufacturing plant dissing both unions/electric cars and China of course.

But the one thing that they and most of America agreed on was that Biden and his efforts to stimulate/strengthen the economy were an abject failure.

The only way towards straighten this fucked up ship was to have one of them do it (fuck it up further?)

They were a little short on the how's we gonna get it done Ma & Pa part, but as sure as a frog croaks and mules shit, thays gonna gets it done. (Colloquialisms for their constituents)

So, once again the GOP unleashes it's shining Stars upon the good 'ol USA, ready to save this sorta great nation from the Evil One's, the Communists/ Socialists/drag queens or anyone/anything even slightly LGBTQ/Chinamen/Mexicans or generic darkies/bleached blondes/ Bungie jumpers and those things that make the floor boards squeak at night.

Yup, the Righteous Ones were on full display tonight that's for sure, but the Grand Poobah of Destruction & Chaos, the Leader of the pack, Dandy Donny Boy Trump wasn't there because he didn't have to be, and if he was there, that pack of dog's would/could have ripped him to shreds
But would they?
Never know, will we.

All people that smoke pot are criminals according the the US government so it's strange to me to see so many potheads promoting prosecuting others. And Biden being competent is an opinion most Americans would disagree with.

I wish we weren’t so hell bent on automatically giving the standing Pres the next nomination. I am sure the dem party can come up with a better candidate I know the republicans can do better.

Personally, I think Booker or Stalwell will be/are the best of the lot that the Dems will have to offer AFTER Biden wins the Presidency again next year.

Let's be serious here and untangle whatever you have crossed wishing for Trump to go away forever.

He will be in jail within 2 years and once the American voter is in front of whatever you vote with and really realizes the ramifications of their vote, they will choose Biden even with the Harris weight he has to drag around.

I'll never understand why he chose her in the first place.

Dumb move.

It does seem shaky now, but this time next year the Americans will have come to their senses and reelect Biden, right?

Maybe keep those toes crossed.

Or else :)

Are you looking for potheads?
You made a right instead of a left it seems.
We all do only chemicals here in Politics.
You will find those archaic dope smokers in those other threads, but not here.
Go do a couple of lines or eat something that tastes like shite and come back then.
Peace out sister and tread carefully in the future.
It can be dangerous here.

He sort of flamed out, but i still like beto and think he could be viable in the future. The dem bench seems kind of shallow though, it's Biden or bust.

I don't think harris will be a contender in 2028, wouldn't be opposed to them replacing her as vp with whoever might be a top choice to elevate them. Mayor Pete wouldn't be a bad choice IMHO. Booker is more corporation/wall street friendly than I would like. Stalwell would also be good. They just need to raise the profile of some folks.

I'm sort of regional in my picks and think candidates not from CA or NY/NJ/north east would do better in the general.

Buttigieg FTW

If we elect a gay POTUS, at least three entire countries would freak out & drop dead, and a couple of wars would probably stop. Just sayin.

1) crime comes in infinite gradations, from removing a mattress label to killing 200,000 by gutting a pandemic response.

2) we will see in ‘24. Also I doubt “most Americans”. That’s the sort of nonsense Tucker might say.

Wait? So all other laws are to be ignored by us (and not being an American I guess I do not count)? As far as being competent, much better than the other guy that needs his daily briefs in cartoon format.

Assuming there will be another free election in 2028 (kidding... I think?), Mayor Pete would be good, Jamie Raskin would be a really solid choice(although he would be the perfect VP for anyone), and wouldn't be surprised to hear lots about Jason Kander getting back into it.

Not true but even if it was, So what? Most Americans voted for Hillary in 2016 and we still got stuck with trump.

I’m glad to see you accept that trump is a criminal though. That’s progress.

Baby steps.
