Well, if they catch Vlad outside of Russia and send him to the Hague, it won't matter much will it? I mean an unknown group of Russians could deposit him in Ukraine for disposal and he wouldn't even make it to the Hague, what Russia signed or didn't, would make little difference in court there either. It would be like Trump saying he refuses to recognize the court when they bust him, good luck with that.
I have no idea about international law. Russia isnt a signatory of the ICC and doesn't extradite its citizens. Wouldn't Putin have diplomatic immunity anyways or as the Americans call it Head of State Immunity?

The company that was operating a container ship that dramatically ran aground in the Suez Canal in 2021 is awash with cash.
Taiwan shipping giant Evergreen Marine is so flush with money that it’s handing out massive bonuses to its 3100 workers.
This year’s pay bumper is expected to be 10 to 11 months worth of workers’ 2022 salary.
Combined with a huge 50-month bonus they were awarded last December, workers are getting about five years’ worth of pay in bonuses alone.

Great to see a company passing on some of its profits to staff.

You know...I am actually kind of shocked America ranked as highly as it did. Not knocking it, but we seem miserable as a whole, not as bad as the British mind you, thats our future state of existence.

So basically NL is number 2

6 out of the top 10 countries are places where burning wood to prevent your nuts from freezing off creates a fuzzy warm immense happy feeling. Especially in a Finnish sauna. Iceland is like a remote island tribe, far enough away from everyone else, I’ll take their word for it. Happy people in Israel though… good one.

Corrected list:
1. Iceland
2. NL
3. Luxembourg (a former dutch state, richer and has mountains…)
4. NZ
5. Australia
6. Canada
7. Ireland
8. US
9. Gerrmany
10. Belgium

It’s always funny to see the scandinavian countries being listed as near-utopias. It’s clearly a mindset, which is good, but it’s local. Unless… unless happiness is the result of getting the least international tourists, expats and retirees.

Obviously I’m kidding, Iceland is a cold windy rock in the ocean and does not belong in top 10. I had this exchange student from Iceland in class back in school, his hobby was catching birds on cliffs. Something of a national pasttime, Puffin hunting. All the kids were in shock by this barbaric behavior, he didn’t make any friends that year.

People always complain here in NL, we’re in fact quit miserable and only things like dreaming of living in NZ or Australia, having space and sunny weather, provides a glimpse of happiness.

I think if you’d compare certain states they would be listed much higher.

Without the invention of dark and thick stouts, Ireland would be about 80 points lower.

Good point on states, some places here are quite nice and have great quality of life, it's what brought me to Colorado.

Can't say Israel looks like a great place to live, not sure how it wound up so high.

I was talking to someone at work about the "murder city" type rankings that come out, we both grew up in places that have claimed #1. Neither of us really felt they were that bad or dangerous growing up. His town was Gary Indiana, "it was the 80s and Michael Jackson was from my town, it was the greatest place in the world."

maybe they should invest in a program to train their boat captains how not to crash in a place that will fuck over the entire world for years...
They should be giving that cash to all the people they fucked over by fucking up the entire world logistical system...

that should just illustrate how miserable the rest of the world is, and how shitty they have it compared to NL...

Israel is probably a great place to live, if you aren't a Palestinian who got their home stolen to placate a bunch of religious zealots...

I guess it depends on how one defines happiness, which is an individual trait. It would be more accurate to say the countries who top the list are those where it is easiest to be happy because there are less impediments to happiness, these are places where people are free to pursue happiness, and most do. Places where you are free to be rich or poor, but can be happy in either state, since there are more poor than rich, keeping them happy is important for elected governments.

That’s the thing. Happiness is subjective. Wrestling it into a contrived metric generates error exceeding the value.
