Well, it is a climate change thread and not so much sales office for EVs. Many post of the problems we face, and I do too, but I also like to post about the possibilities too and the work people are doing to help us get to that green new future. Things like deep geothermal might soon be matters of public policy as BEVs research and charging stations are now.still, for me to care it has to work here.
Next year your EV options will likely double and the year after that there will be more choices and prices ranges. However, the idea of the cheap sodium battery pack out living the car is an attractive one for consumers and should shift the ground under the industry's feet.
Here is an example of stuff I don't bother posting, but it is interesting though aways down the road I figure, if it ever gets there. it will be competing against lithium sulphur and lithium silicone electro chemistries and lithium extraction is becoming cheaper too. I tend to post those things that are pre-production, in production or can enhance existing production. Many of the breakthroughs concern production or longevity bottlenecks. Solid state battery makers found they could dramatically reduce defects in the sintering process by completely eliminating CO2, the more CO2 the more defects in production.
Cheap sodium-sulfur battery boasts 4x the capacity of lithium-ion
An international team of scientists eyeing next-generation energy storage solutions have demonstrated an eco-friendly and low-cost battery with some exciting potential. The group’s novel sodium-sulfur battery design offers a fourfold increase on energy capacity compared to a typical lithium-ion…
