Sex and Regular Seeds

Or buy seeds from a reputable breeder.
So how do I know who is a reputable breeder and who is not except through experience? If you asked my opinion about the three seed sellers I listed:

1. Canada Seed Bank - I bought 10 Durban Poison seeds and only 1 germinated. I contacted them several times and they just ignored me, so I will not shop there again.
2. I got 4 Denali seeds from the OCS (Ontario Cannabis Store - government store) although they came from Erbaceous. All 4 germinated and are doing well.
3. I took a sampling of the inexpensive seeds from Uncle B's to see if they were as much a bargain as they appear to be. The germination rates varied, but the plants are doing well. So we'll see how good the buds are at harvest time. I was getting hot pepper seeds anyway so the added cost was incidental.

I was trying to get some pure Sativa's with a focus on those with THC-V. The Durban Poison and Thai Sativa should be what I am looking for, but we'll see how they turn out.

How do you determine a reputable breeder? Can you recommend one or more for future purchases? I need suppliers in Canada and preferably in Ontario.

So I had 4 Thai Sativas go male at about 3 months after germination. Perhaps this is a trait peculiar to this strain. One of the plants was with me and the others were with friends to whom I had given some young plants. Overall I had 4 of 8 Thai Sativas go male. I gave six away and everyone had exactly half males from the plants they received. I had read various articles about sexing my plants and they indicated that you could spot a male anywhere from 3 - 6 weeks. So it was this time frame that lead me to conclude (too early) that all my plants were female. I brought the male inside my house far away from the other females outside. I have been collecting pollen every couple of days and will continue to do so until all the flowers open. It seems they open first lower down the branch and then move towards the top. I've been keeping the pollen in a baggie in the fridge. I am now waiting for the buds to develop on the other plants. I do not see any signs that any of the females have transitioned from the grow to the bloom stage yet. I hope to get a few seeds for next year's grow.

Photos: 1. Male Thai Sativa, 2 Balcony Garden: 4 X D3nali in yellow pails, Thai Sativa (white pail center), Manitoulin Dream behind Thai Sativa (white pail) and 3. Balcony Garden: Durban Poison in while pail in center. The raised planters are filled with 3 types of tomatoes and 5 types of peppers. On patio table there is basil, parsley, dill, chives and more tomatoes. On the deck are some more peppers (yellow pail) and some cucumbers, zucchini and sunflowers. No where left to sit anywhere on the deck. It is difficult enough to maneuver around the plants to water and harvest.
