Can’t figure out DWC Cloning, HELP

I've got one of those things too and I could never get clones out of it. I figuted it was a gimmick. The Clone King is as easy as it gets. Clones love to be sprayed.
Yeah this is my second run and nothing. Sucks cuz I bought the wrong one on accident. I wanted an aero cloner and bought DWC on accident. The guy at the store mixed them up and explained to me backwards.

If thats what you want build your own, probably cost about $80

The browning is what I started too see also. I waited up to 30 days on some clones. They did root up by the collar eventually but I just tossed them. I’m now putting the stems over an inch away from the water line. Clones arnt standing up straight line they do when closer to the water. I’ve also started dipping them in powder prior to entering. Being farther from the water most of the powder stays on.
brown tips is from too wet. Bubbles need to be just right so clones can absorb moister but not stay wet. Ive since brought back my dome and rockwoll and have success with that. Today I took some more clones for fun. Some in the bubbler and some in the dome. Will see who wins with the adjustments I’ve made to the bubbler.

The prebuilt ones cost about $70-80 the store. First I’ll rework some things with my bubbler to see if I can get better results. I ran a bleach solution overnight and soaked all my collars etc. I’ll add a tsp of peroxide to my water and run overnight again before adding more cuttings

I've never needed one, my ambient temps go from low 50's to low 100's & I have always had great results. My CK runs pretty much 24/7 for my perpetual grow.
YRMV..

Do you use a heating pad?
Heating pads are for seedling trays.
Putting one under a dwc container will just raise your water temps and cause you more problems. You want to keep your water temps down.
So what your doing here isnt much passed water in a jar for rooting clones. You've made no mention of any kind of rooting hormone or anything you've added to the water. They work, I'd get one. I have nearly 100% rooting with dyna-gro KLN+pro-tekt added to my cloner.
I've used a bubble bucket with it too and it worked great.

I grow organic. I only even use dry amendments in my coco blends for my actual plants and no bottled bites. I wouldn’t use rooting hormones or gel for cloning. You can still get roots with plain water, plenty have done so before. Yeah rooting gels and hormones make things easier but I’m taking a more organic route.

Then maybe you should give up on this and just put your cuttings into your "organic" mix to start.
Since you know that you can get roots in plain water, you should also know that it can take up to a month by now.
Youre wasting your time with tap water in a bucket imo. I throw cutting out after 12 days if they havent rooted.

Thanks, I mean say that to the tons of people who do get roots with just plain water.. but to each it’s own. I just wanna get my own method for me personally down.

Try air propagation. Rooter cube, a growing branch, some plastic. Haven't done it myself yet, but will be going that route in a few weeks. I dont have much success with dwc cloners either. Better results in soil; roots in 2 weeks for me

Compost tea, 1 cup in that cloner and keep the temp right, wont fail... even easier compost tea 1 cup, pete plugs (x), soak pete plugs until they are fat, place cuts in pete plugs (i puncture the side of the netting on them instead of the intended hole because they hold the cuttings better), place in domed tray and keep em moist, spray water on plugs and cuts as often as needed like i said keep em moist, most important be patient, the fans will yellow (because the cuts should have roots now and be growing roots instead of feeding fans) now plant and grow :)

I would suggest you don't add any organic material to a cloner. You are looking to "root" the cuts, not feed them,
they have no roots> so will not feed, no need to PH your water for the same reason. Organic material in your cloner will only invite slime.
Tap water ( the small amount of chlorine or chloramine in tap helps stave off nasties) & patience is all you really need. Tap water is the easy part, the patience, not so much :eyesmoke: .
good luck....

Microbial tea in my 9site EZ cloner everytime untill i switched to pete plugs, cleaning the cloner after every use with peroxide and a very small amount of bleach (leave the pump on overnite) rinse and wash with hot water and dawn= no slime or residual build up of deposits from your water (insoluable material found in your tap water) and never an issue... i would not use organics in a cloner if you dont clean it regularly though as anything you put in your cloner (cloning compound, liquid or powder or gel) will build up inside the pump and the spray nozzles on the manifold... but if you keep a clean cloner and are good at keep8ng your cloner temperature under control id be willing to bet that a cutting with clonex or any compound in an aeroponic cloner next to a cutting in an aeroponic cloner with water and a cup of microbial tea will always be the later of the two to root, try it out... its a couple days faster and almost never fails i do this every single time for my clones 99% success rate (cant say 100 but damn close) and fast like 5 days fast maybe 7 at the most and keep your temps good in the water...

I use the oxy cloner - it didn’t come with a humidity dome, so I made my own. I have success for anything I throw in it. It is truly a game changer - at least for me. Also check out this dude on YouTube - insidehydro - he has a tutorial on cloning I followed, using the same cloner I have. Followed his directions exactly and BAM - all my clipping rooted. I’ve been doing it the same ever since and have no issues.

Good luck getting you ladies to root

I love learning. Would you please explain the science behind compost tea promoting plant propagation ?
I understand how Willow water & honey work in that regard, but compost teas in a cloner makes zero sense to me.
