Fishing

Sorry for the delay. When I got home everyone was ready to eat and of course we had some sockeye salmon, lol. I'm terrible at remembering to take pics until it's too late. Sorry no dinner pics :wall: Anyway I flew into Anchorage and drove down to Soldotna. We have a buddy there that has a place with a couple cabins, a boat and knowledge of the local rivers. Can't beat a free guide service, he never asked for a dime. But we made sure to take care of him before we left.
The fish count was 70,000+ coming up the river everyday we were there. We had to of hit the run at its peak because the day we left was it 27,000. Needless to say we were limiting out in about 2 hours everyday on reds. Between 4 of us we filled an 8ish cf freezer in 5 days with filets and bellies . My buddy and I brought back about 240lbs of fresh sockeye, and now everyone I know is bugging me for fish. We fished for another couple days but didn't keep anymore for ourselves. It was f ing amazing to say the least. And it my first trip up there too, another one of them..... What took me so long? type of deals. I checked out some property up there too, I already have the wife on board to buy an acre lot so we can have a place to go to every year and fish.

Everyone that fished with us was experienced and not too concerned with pics. Literally my first selfies, lol. And the first time I've put my face on a forum, I really have nothing to hide legally anymore. 20190809_113944.jpg 20190809_113933.jpg

Looks like you did very well and welcome to the great land.
BTW, weed is actually very cheap/free if you know who to ask.
Thank you, and I imagine the weed can come at a better rate, lol. I paid 73 for an 1/8 and a 1/2 gram kief at one shop, like yikes! It is a very amazing place, and I find it hard to describe to others. I think it's something you have to see in person to appreciate. I'll definitly be back next year for at least one run. Wouldn't mind going for a big king either.

My best king so far this year was 42 but we loaded the boat a couple of times so my freezers are full.
Gonna have to cull some older stuff when I come back from Moose hunting this year - 3 big freezers are almost stuffed as it is.
It could be worse.
That's awesome man. There's so much good food up there, variety is the spice of life. I was down to about half a freezer of elk, but the fish topped it off again. I'm going back to processing my meat this year too, gonna try my hand at a variety of sausages.

You guys need a good hurricane. I have plenty of freezer space now.

If a hurricane hits the rockies I'm pretty that's gonna make the news, lol. That's a bummer man, I've lost a freezer in the past too. Damn shame.... Are you getting everthing put back together ok?
We have two chest freezers {plus two regular fridges with freezers} that were always too full. We had been planning on buying a third, just hadn't come up with a good place to put it. After the storm it was several months before I actually had to use the bigger one of the two, and it's just my seed, garden and sht stuff.

Slowly. We have a shed and pumphouse now. Roofers will come to roof two other sheds when the rain stops. I still have to clear an area for a polebarn. The last week or so we have been looking at tractors and grapples {to maybe speed up the process}. I hate spending the money, but my old 35 year old Ford w/ hayforks. . . . . . .

A new toy is always fun. Glad to hear it's coming back together for ya. I'm sure you have your gardens going too, nice come back.
