I'm actually using a t5 fixture for the first time on my current grow, just for veg for now, got some agromax pure veg bulbs for it, and it's performing quite well! I've got it set inches from the top and I'm getting wonderfully compact growth. My 400 watt led works great too, but it lets off enough heat that I don't like it being less than a foot from the top. They don't stretch much, but I got the t5 fixture for free and just had to drop 40$ on some decent bulbs and wire it to an old extension cord as it was designed to be hardwired as a high bay shop light. It puts off minimal heat, enough to keep plants comfortable in an enclosed space. I may be keeping it as a veg light, using my led for a preflower light, and of course my 400watt hps for full on flower.
@Smokey_mc_pot If ventilation is not an option, even the 180 led could heat the grow space up too much depending on how sealed off it is. If that's the case a high output florescent light will be your best bet. 6400k for veg and 2700k for flower I think it is. You can find some on eBay that are a bit more pricey that let off really good spectrums. But if you flower with one I'd add some of those clip on fixtures from Wal-Mart with some daylight cfl's for some extra spectrums.
