How many plants can be grown with a 180 watt LED light?

Hi I'm a new grower and want to ask a question and get first hand answers from experienced people. I got a 180 watt Led light and want to know approximately how many plants i can grow under it? Is it going to be too much heat for 1 or 2 plants? Any feed back is good thanks.

I agree with @mauricem00. I've never flowered under a light like that, but I wouldn't expect much.. Just for shits and grins I grew out a hermi that I'd plucked the nanners on in a separate chamber under 1 standard cfl (like you'd put in a desk lamp) and I harvested about an eighth of seedless bud. The potency was pretty damn good actually. But that was under a maybe 20 watt light.. I wouldn't grow more than 1 under it, maybe 2 small ones if you train them well. But I'd look into a 200-400 watt hps.

a 250 watt HPS/MH combination would also be a good choice for a small "closet" grow but if heat is and issue T5s may also be a good choice

I'm actually using a t5 fixture for the first time on my current grow, just for veg for now, got some agromax pure veg bulbs for it, and it's performing quite well! I've got it set inches from the top and I'm getting wonderfully compact growth. My 400 watt led works great too, but it lets off enough heat that I don't like it being less than a foot from the top. They don't stretch much, but I got the t5 fixture for free and just had to drop 40$ on some decent bulbs and wire it to an old extension cord as it was designed to be hardwired as a high bay shop light. It puts off minimal heat, enough to keep plants comfortable in an enclosed space. I may be keeping it as a veg light, using my led for a preflower light, and of course my 400watt hps for full on flower.

@Smokey_mc_pot If ventilation is not an option, even the 180 led could heat the grow space up too much depending on how sealed off it is. If that's the case a high output florescent light will be your best bet. 6400k for veg and 2700k for flower I think it is. You can find some on eBay that are a bit more pricey that let off really good spectrums. But if you flower with one I'd add some of those clip on fixtures from Wal-Mart with some daylight cfl's for some extra spectrums.

I plan to eventually build some cob's in the future. I've done quite a bit of research on them and you can build a damn good light for under 200.

I bet you could easily find a bulb to fit that online. Just make sure to do some research and make sure it's not gonna be a fire hazard. High powered growing equipment is not joke. I melted an extension cord.. Lucky as hell I found it before it caught fire..

If you can find a brand or any info at all, look it up.

I'M a PU MMJ closet growers.I have been using T5s because I don't have the ventilation for HIDs my last crop gave me 180 grams of really good flower from a 216 watt light. so I am happy with T5s. I use a mix of 6500k and roseate bulbs http://www.ebay.com/itm/261229975287?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT these work a little better than 2700k for flowering and ad a little UV to the spectrum aswell

good suggestion if you into DIY you could also use 660nm leds as supplemental flowering lights. small red led flowering lights are also available on E-bay or you could replace some of the 6500k bulbs in the fixture with 3000k or roseate bulbs for flowering http://www.ebay.com/itm/54W-54-Watts-T5-Bulbs-4-ft-48-High-Output-Fluorescent-Grow-Lamps-Bloom-Veg-/261229975287?var=&hash=item0 I prefer the roseate bulbs. they cost the same as 3000k bulbs but produce a lot more deep red and UV light and give me slightly better yield and quality
