How is restricting guns in America going to make people safer from large vehicles?

i bet if we look into the backgrounds and pasts of these victims, damn near all of them has, at one point or another, done drugs or otherwise broken some law. so what we should be doing right now is looking up that information so that we can smear them, dehumanize them, and feel better about their deaths*.

You don't have the constitutional right to put others lives at risk. You have the right to own a gun (bear arms). Guess what, ensuring you're not crazy or have a violent criminal background doesn't remove your right to own a gun. It says "shall not be infringed". Gun control regulation does not infringe your right to own a gun.
Cars can kill people, we know this, which is why we require basic safety and training tests so we know who we can trust to be reasonably safe with operating a moving vehicle. Guns can kill people, we know this too, but idiots like you think it's a violation of your rights when we run equitable tests to make sure we can trust people to be reasonably safe with them. We're still nowhere near saying "No, you can't own a gun" which would be a violation of your 2nd amendment right, we're saying "Yeah sure, go ahead and own one, but maybe we should make sure you know how to safely use that first.." OMFG MY RIGHTS!@!!!@
It's an idiotic argument that should be treated as such. You wouldn't argue people should just be allowed to drive cars without a license, right?
