before title II, blacks depended on the 'green book for negro travelers' to navigate their way around racist businesses that would charge them twice as much for gas as they would a white person, or deny them a hotel room, or spit in their food.

Perhaps the guy went to art school with a descendant of Carl Marx. Then BAM, the person who likes that painting is a socialist.
