most the time servers make about half of minimum wage... restaurants are complete money makers man.. only people really that need have money coming from the place is kitchen and managers. you guys pay everyone else.. where i work the only thing youre touching for under 15 dollars is an appetizer. so my boss is doing insanely good and he has more places then just where i work. one is even more money
That's awful, it's illegal for anyone over 18 to earn less than minimum wage I believe I could be wrong and it could be anyone over 16 years of age but eitherway that is shocking, I would never work for minimum wage and I couldn't imagine working for less, I started working cash jobs whilst still a youngster 14 and still earned a wage, not a great one but for the time it wasn't bad money considering it was tax free.

Forget the tip amounts . Im shocked that the waitress got fired. Why is it that the god fearing are always the biggest assholes? I would have just waited til he came back in and made sure his meal got some of my devil loving herpes.
please, don't lump us all together, she may be a christian but her actions show otherwise :eyesmoke:

I went back to work bartending/waiting tables when I lost my job a few years ago. I enjoy serving people, and talking with them about their day. There are some people you cannot make happy. I think there are a few here. Some people are horribly condescending, ask you for a straw, and when you bring it, ask for a side of wahtever, and when you come back, ask for something else, just to run you. All the while you have 6 other tables that need attention. Then, after receiving excellent service with a smile, they stiff you on the tip. No class is no class.

Trust me folks, people who work in the tip industry remember you like a MF, if you tip well, and if you tip poorly, or are rude, you will get shitty service the next time you come in, and lucky if you do not get fumunda cheese with your food.

The server isn't charging $29 for a steak that is $8.99 lb at the store, it's the restaurant. The rest of the food costs money, and so does electricity, insurance, payroll, building lease, taxes, etc. If you want your steak for $8.99 lb, go to the store, cook it yourself, wait on yourself.

The christians do seem to be the worst. There are some that leave these stupid cards about jesus dying for you, as your tip!!! C'mon back, Mr. Jesus Man. Free fumunda cheese for you next time!

I used to work at a Red Lobster waiting, we could usually tell when the tip wasn't coming, like when they ordered "skrimps and srpizzite" and when you brought the food you were refered to as 'alright my nigga'. I had some regulars that would give me an additional $10 bill for letting them call me George all night because they thought I looked like Clooney.
I tip well, except for when I get poor service, I think in the last 10 years I've left a poor tip twice. You really have to try to be bad as to not get a proper tip from me. I have a girl that cuts my hair for $5, I told her when I first sat down, just because I'm getting a cheap hair cut doesn't mean I am cheap myself. She gets $10-$20 on her tip depending on the time of year and which low cut shirt she's wearing.

Yeah, $4.25 hr here for wait staff! your a dick if you don't tip at minimum 20%...I have become accustom to tippping a few bucks on pick up too. Its just money, and some of us could use it less for the sake of making a struggling individuals life a little more comfortable! Its not easy work being taken advantage of on your feet all day by your employer, dealing with assholes that complain to you and belittle you like a servant, cause they are essentially food slaves...Don't be a dick

I'll tip 20% (because it's easier to figure then 18%) but only if service good.

But tip jars....If I was an employer I would be ashamed that my employees ask for tips in that fashion.

I understand that, but everyone is different. She fluants it for the money, she texts me to come in when she has a low cut shirt on. I can't help that I like boobs, I just do. She also give me free a free hair wash and massages my scalp for like 10 minutes. I'm a respectful customer and a good conversation.

Sounds very odd to me love, I just can't wrap my head around the fact a business could pay so low and rely on it's customers to make up the short fall, that and the fact that the employee will never have a set wage and could be working harder than what they are getting paid for, full respect to people in the tipping industry I couldn't do it. I'm a firm believer in a hard days work for a hard days pay.

My wife was a waitress at a Chinese restaurant before she got pregnant. According to her the worst tippers are old people and Indians. We use to go out once a week for dinner to the same place. We always gave 20%, sometimes alittle more if my wife was extra needy. The wait staff were always very happy to see us because they knew their time and efforts would be fairly rewarded and we're pleasant people by nature.

they have a set wage, here its 2$ under min, so they get paid 8.75 / an hour , now granted this is not every restaurant

If the tips plus hourly wage doesn't meet minimum wage for the day the employer has to meet the quota of minimum wage themselves. Atleast in my state.

WAIT, WAIT, WAIT (see what I did there?)

People do not realize that your waiter has to pay taxes on your GD food! If your bill is $100, that $100 goes on my sales for the night. The IRS assumes I made at least 8% tip on that $100; so I have to pay taxes on $8. So, not only did you stiff me, I had to pay money to serve you!!!! Fuck you, very much!

It is hard work, and with limited employment options, employers will abuse and use and get a new one...maybe you never eat out then, and waiting is unnecessary job huh? Dont be a dick...
