White Russian grow results!

I started a whiite russian grow on september 15th. I didnt want to post much until I was sure it would work as it is my very first hydro grow after years of outdoor, a couple of years indoors in soil. The seeds were vegged for 21 days under 4-T5 HO 4' tubes @ 6500.oct2-2.jpg This pic was takin 15 days after popped. I used a locally mixed nonorganic nute mix and a couple of other useless additives (remember Im new lol). My setup which is DIY consists of a 40 gallon bottom res., 7 gallon upper res, airstone, and no media under pots. I was running the nutes on the high side @ 800-900 but was using a tester that had a .5 conversion. Also had no ideal what I was running due to using test strips, which IMO suck! This is a pic of the girls @ 21 days oct 12.jpg Finally got a proper tester and started to record PH and EC. I was running a real low PH before I got the pen, I figure it got as low as 4.5 at times!! At 21 days I switched to 400 hps and 12/12, please note my pump is set for 30 on 30 off 24/7. Nute levels (new pen .71 conv.) 1550 and PH 6.0-6.5. I do have issues with PH as my water is a bit hard (well). Everything looks good so far and I have finally stopped streeing that they are about to die as everyone is telling me my nutes are too high and pump on to long, but am reluctant to change things as I have not witnessed this kind of growth ever lol. Now things are really happening fast with the stretch coming on strong!!! I have to move the light everyday as the plants are growing like inches a day. This growth is going to pose a problem if it doesn't stop soon, my cieling is only 7'! I change the res every 10-14 days and dont top up much unless cant get to res change for a day or two. Through out the grow I have maintained the TDS 1300-1500 and the EC 1.5-2.0 and PH 5.5-6.5. The one reason I did this review was to let people know that I had extreme stretch with these guys and to be prepared! This is the girls as of a week ago and I have lost total control of the situation lol I cannot get into the room as they have taken over like vines, bud11-10-4.jpgbud11,10.jpg In the last week the buds have become alot fuller and (not recommended) I have broken and retied most of the main stalks to keep them away from light. Also something to note is how fragile the stalks are and that they snap at the slightest bend. When the plant is fanally done I will post some more pics and a smoke report but for now I can't really get good pics as i can't get through door. Also I did top these girls in thier second week of veg and next time would probably top the crap out of them to try to limit growth and try to keep temps more constant as that may have been a contributing factor in stretch. I do have a Mataro Blue grow that I just switched to 12/12 and will post that soon as well.

Just an update re:quantity and quality. The final tally was 410gr of dried bud and 65 grams of really good shake (lots of small buds). The high is really uplifting and can last for a hour or so. Taste is quite mild as is the odour. I did pick it a bit early and could have let it go another week or two which may have increased yields a bit and a more of a narcotic high. Gotta say I was really happy with results, but would veg it a little less as it stretched uncontrollably...lol.

nov26WRbud.jpgSorry but my camera broke and cant get a good pic with the Iphone but this is one of the buds from the White Russian. I now have Mataro Blue, Pato1, and White Domina in the trays, with the Mataro about 2-3 weeks from the end.

Thanks! I'm amazed I did it! I started a diary today for the Pato and White domina. Thought people would be as curious about the Pato as I am. And I need the help also lol.

Thx mike! I would rate it around a 7.5 I guess. Its a uplifting stone, almost to much as I like a couch lock stone lol. I did pick some earlier than others and there was a week from start to finish and the end buds are a bit more intence, so don't rush lol (I had to! Ran out!). The taste in a joint is not great, kinda ditchy. But I vape, which it tastes ok, and make BHO, so its not an issue! Not one I'd grow for sale only because of the lack of bag appeal. Don't get me wrong though its a kick ass smoke and I would grow again just for the quantity alone. And its gotta be an easy one to grow for me to get that amount lol. And yes I would love to try AK, I have grown White Widow but in soil. My next plant will be critical if I can get it. And the ferrets an asshole by the way lol. He just stole a bud and hid it. lol.

Yes I am as a matter of fact lol. But the little bugger steals everything!!! I have to go under my bed every week and pull out all the shit he has taken and hid lol. He doesnt eat the pot he just takes it and adds it to his treasures lol. BTW he's also a tough little bastard, the dogs deathly afraid of him, and the dogs 90lbs !

Nice work. Bubblegum is on my list. The next grow you will dial it in good. Did you take clones and grow them? You should its easy and will greatly increase yield of a grow. Top em and use those tops as clones.

No, no clones. I'm still looking for the 10 out of 10 plant!!! I have 3 different strains going now with the mataro blue done in a few weeks, so I'll pick another strain to try. Probably Critical Kush if I can find it, its sold out at my place. And yes I have cloned lots of strains and when I was in soill I would clone just before shutting the shed down in summer due to heat. I would fill the whole place and get as much as possible to last the summer. Actually the Mataro has had some issues and is a but stunted, I had high PH and a plugged pump filter and airstone!!! All good now after pulling everything and cleaning. Thanks for all the praise and have a great holiday.

Pato is the name of the breeder at Kannabia. he was nice enough to answer a question by email for me once. (that attitudes Kannabia descriptions are wrong)

how did your mataro blue turn out? i have one i want to pop. sounds like the white russian you grew was a bit sativa

Good job for first run, you can avoid the stretch problems by learning some training tecniques..super cropping, lst and the like.
AK47 great choice, I'm in the tail end of a serious seeds AK47 grow, about 1-1.5 weeks to cut time, looking real good, about 8 or so oz's per plant...maybe more out of 1 or 2, and its starting to reek.
GRAPEGOD...mmmm, we just finished up a couple of runs of it and WOW its one tasty smoke, I think its taste is like a good NY sour diesel and most certainly on the repeat list. Here's a pic of our grapegod mom.

Yes Pato does offer great advise, and Pato#1 is also a strain new this year so not much about it.

Actually I have done a bit of LSTing, The White actually had some high stress training when the branches broke lol. The biggest issue I think was the switching to HPS as soon as I turned the lights, my temps were really far apart at night and day, and the fact that the strain is known for a big stretch. But yes I think a scrog grow would be a good choice as well.

Yes there is the white in there (sativa) and it is a hybrid. The Blue unfortunatly had a hard life lol. It was not the cake walk the WR was lol. My bottom res airstone got plugged (didnt notice) and the pump hose got a kink in it ( low water pressure), and had a real issue with PH so all in all its OK. I am flushing it now and will cut it in a couple of days WOOO HOOO!!! View attachment 2459051 I have decided to go with the Critical Kush from Barney's next. So Maine are u doing DWC? I basically could switch my system to a RDWC by leaving my pump on 24/7 but not sure if that would be better. Any thoughts, I have my pump cycle on for 15 min and off for 1 hr. I ask because it looks like you have a handle on this stuff!!!! Nice !!!!!! BTW I FIM'ed the pato and WD yesterday and turned them to 12 4 days ago but still under the T5's for a bit till I move them into flower room.
