Warning: carcinogens found in Humboldt county's own products

Hi,

I was advised that eel river hydro was the retail outlet for humboldt county's own brand nutes and was wondering if you could advise me on some info I received recently.

I was advised that some of the HCO products you stock contain some pretty bad chemicals. Bushmaster having chlormequat chloride in it, and gravity containing paclobutrazol. I wonder if can confirm or deny this? i obviously don't want to be ingesting cancer causing chemicals.

If eel river is not related to HCO I would greatly appreciate a contact for anyone you may have at your supplier of their nutes.

[FONT=&quot] I understand and appreciate your concern. The HCO line of products is made by a previous co-owner of Eel River Hydroponics. The BushMaster and Gravity were issued stop-sell orders in California only. The issue was that the labels needed to be revised. There are no, I repeat NO, carcinogenic chemicals in any of our products and there has never been any carcinogenic chemicals in our products. A lot of info online is nothing but fairy tales and urban legends. Some of the stuff is put online by competitors. The way the fertilizer laws are written in California and some other states, we cannot name ingredients that are not on the label. That’s why most labels are bland and say nothing.[/FONT][FONT=&quot][/FONT]

Can you elaborate further on the stop sell order please? I dont want to be a pest but i want to be absolutely clear in my own head. so there was a recall order for relabeling or a stop sell order meaning the stuff in the bottles cannot be resold with a new label. can you advise exactly what the revision was? i have a bottle of gravity and snowstorm i purchased from the states this year.

I also don't get the labeling law part. you say you cant name ingredients that are not on the label? in the uk we have to name absolutely everything that goes into a production the label. why would you have stuff in the product that isnt on the label? forgive my ignorance i'm just not sure why any company would have secret ingredients?

[FONT=&quot]California law in these matters is rather vague and hard to understand until you have run-ins with the authorities. Sales were stopped because the state claims the label doesn’t conform to the regulations. They claim that one of the ingredients must be listed on the label. I had a meeting with the authorities on Thursday and showed them documentation that supports my claim that I can’t legally list it. Time will tell who is right. As far as ingredients are concerned, if I want to put an ingredient on the label then I have to submit data showing that it has some particular effect. Sometimes that’s not a good idea in this business. [/FONT]

A short time ago, three of the most popular flower hardeners available were pulled from the market. As far as we can tell, Phosphoload, Flower Dragon and Gravity were all recalled due to their use of Coal Derived Humates or Paclobutrazol as plant growth regulators. Only permitted for ornamental plants, these products are presently unable to be sold as labeled. This began with a labeling dispute with the California Department of Agriculture and grew to a nationwide recall. BushMaster, which derives nearly the same chemicals from kelp, has recently been marked as not for sale in California, indicating it too may be very hard to get soon. At this time, we can drop-ship bushmaster to locations outside of CA, but can only do this as a special order item.
