Hi everyone. My hubby an I are in a disagreement over lights for flowering. Here is the issue. Hubby wants to flower using florescent lights. I want to flower using 400 watt HPS lights. We have all the lights, the questions is which shall we use? He said to post it here and let you guys make the call. This is our first grow and we will be flowering in 2 weeks. Thanks for your input! LB ...I have them vegging with T-5's. So, I should combine the T-5's with the HPS?- very good! Should I use the T-5's for side lighting? Thanks!

depends on what you want to achieve.

i dont like harvesting little buds. side buds. i normally just lollipop trim all 1/3 lower of the plant...therefore no need for side lighting.

to me, it just seems like the buds just dont get enough light to worry about them. beside.... everybody knows the best part of the plant is the main cola.

but of course you could use it for side lighting if you want the side buds and dont want just one single cola.

yes, the t5 plus the hps will provide a great simulation of the sunlight.

i still say you throw a 1000watter in there and go with one of them hybrid bulbs (600hps plus 400 mh bulbs all in one lamp/bulb)

Thanks LB. One last question, if you don't mind? At what point do you lollipop? When you switch them to 12/12? Thanks again.

you can lollipop all the way to 3 or 4 weeks into flowering!

you want to chop/trim anything more than an inch

Thanks for the info. I will have to do some reading up on this lollipoping business. Hmmm ...a lollipop sounds good. I got a hankering for some candy now, but the store is 30 minutes away and I am too lazy to go anywhere. Thanks again.

Al B. Fuct's thread was great! Thanks LoudBlunts. There is a ton of info in there. I am sold on this whole concept. The pictures really help too. I have read about the SOG idea, but that really puts the whole thing into perspective. Brilliant I say!
