Thermoperiod refers to daily temperature change. Plants produce maximum growth when exposed to a day temperature that is about 10 to 15°F higher than the night temperature. This allows the plant to photosynthesize (build up) and respire (break down) during an optimum daytime temperature, and to curtail the rate of respiration during a cooler night. High temperatures cause increased respiration, sometimes above the rate of photosynthesis. This means that the products of photosynthesis are being used more rapidly than they are being produced. For growth to occur, photosynthesis must be greater than respiration.

UB. First I would like to thank you for some nice inputs. I too was one that was led down the dark path of nutrients. I have pulled out some nice yields but never really happy. I have read a lot about the Dyna-gro and going to go with that line for my next run. I am a full soil person and have the Foliage, protekt and the mag pro ready to roll. Can you recommend a base line mix of these nutrient? I was just thinking about staying with the maintenance amounts. Also should I add the Bloom into this mix or just stay with these three. Your help is appreciated. Thanks

Soil was amended with Fox Farm Marine Cuisine granular fertilizer 10-7-7 and any deficiency was adjusted with Peter's Citrus Feed 20-10-20.

Cooter Nice looking plants and bud. Good to see someone else using the citrus feed. I have this waiting to be used from start to finish next cycle to see how is does. Been using classic and blossom as well with great results.
UB update on that ballast from woot. When researching it it states is give off no rfi so i bought it. Now I set it up and took the radio outside and was surprised when I heard static on all the radio stations. Some areas are worse then others so now I gotta figure out if its worth it to try and block it somehow or try and return it. Bummed me out since the reviews looked good on it. Was the ipower ballast and got the 1000 watt. Thanks for the link above as well. Great article to go in the bookmarks.
Kite thanks for the recommendation on the radiant. Got it set up and very happy with it. Great light distribution and great price. Am going to pick up other one here soon. On sale for 100 on that site now.

I mix up my own soil, pretty much a 50/50 blend of inorganics and organics. This is probably the best ditty I've seen on soil culture - http://forums2.gardenweb.com/forums/load/contain/msg0316064615891.html?14
If you have large plants with a lot of foliage and roots (which I do) then you might want a tight soil that retains moisture to cut down on your maintenance. Sounds odd but there has been plenty of times I've added clay powder to my pots to tighten them up a bit. Even still, watering a 3 gal. pot with at least one quart of water a day gets old.

yo ganja I see you everywhere following UB and disagreeing with him. Why are you wasting your time? Somebody with that much experience in all types of crops with the education he has that follows can not be completely wrong. Let alone all the scientific evidence he provides to back it up.
