So upon waking n checking the temps, the room was up to 90 degrees. Adding a window ac is preffered but out oc the question. simply dont have the space for it.what are some affordable and *efficient* solutions to drop temps ~ 10/13 degrees? Seems alot of people run mini dual hose acs, but those need to be filtered/exhausted. Can you not just lay the exhaust next to the rooms exhaust carbon filter? It runs 24/7.. or does it needs its own separate exhaust?
Lights - air cooled - 1 1000hps, 1 600hps
4x8 tent. Minimum space available... expert opinions greatly appriciated
 
Get one of these portable air conditioners and tie it into your existing exhaust.

Anyway, consider an evaporative cooler, aka swamp cooler. Helps with RH as well as knocking the edge off the heat.

You'll still need to exhaust hot air. The best place to pull it from is directly above the heat source- that is, the light.

Place the exhaust fan at the wall or even better outside the wall, so you're drawing air through the ducting. If you push hot air through the ducting it will heat up enough to defeat the purpose.
 
dont jump immediately to A/c .. what type of :tent: in what? and what avg temps? why is temperature accumulating is all questions making it easier to design your grow

Where is his thermometer placed too (altjough this be oz) would be a great question to even check he knows the correct way to read air temps and not radiation of any sort.

Heres the scoop. Started with (2) 1000w air cooled magnum xxxl lo pros, in a 4 x 8 apollo, inside a 11 x 12 room. 6" hurricane fan cooling the lights, 8in insulated duct - runs to another room, pulls air from the room its in (67 degrees). 8" exhaust, 8in phresh filter - runs outside - insulated duct 12" oscillating fan. Temps got to mid 90s... swapped 1 1000 for a 600, temps 80-82. Its warmed up outside and now its in the high 80s...what happens when summer hits? Not sure what else to do outside of ac. And then throw the other 1000w back in :). 1000 vs 600 is no comparison. Night and day. Just need to beat the heat!

Side note - another new, BIG problem... the air cooled hoods are leaking. That exhaust is filling the house with stench! Adding a filter to it only raises the temps even higher in the room. 8 weeks veg/scrog, 1 week completed in flower..

What would you do?

Whats the difference in set up between a portable ac and swamp cooler?

Its pulling air.. It pulls from just outside the tent inline with the lights, through both lights, through about 6 ft of insulated ducting, (fan), 3 ft ducting, into the next room. The room exhaust is just below the lights...the lo pros are SOOO big, theres no other option.. they throw a ton of light everywhere... highly recomended in THAT regard..

Hygrometer is just BELOW canapy level. Its a sensor and it fits perfectly there...should be a bit higher, but its close enough
 
Should mention that the goal is 78 degrees, consistantly... Have found that to be optimal. have come across units that have heaters, dehumidifiers, a/c s built in...all one unit...anyone have experience with those?
 
I would seal the light and run another exhaust fan for the light only. That way you don’t need to exchange growing room air, just hood air.

Like run a intake vent to the hood and exhaust outside. No carbon filter needed.
 
Have you considered taking the lenses off the lights and dropping wattage? This glass will reduce your light by 30% if I remember correctly. Your hoods for your lights would then be ducted as your only exhaust u could even leave both exhausts going.
Light movers will allow you to get the lights even closer. I think air cooler loops for lights is cool and all but has its place in sealed or commercial ops.
It's not always about cranking the lights up and with your intake temp u should have no problem controlling temp
 
A swamp cooler is an evaporative water cooler which is a great option if using an air cooler light loop. I would not use in the flowering room but maybe veg if its dry because they put out a ton of humidity but be careful shit grows all over those.

Ac uses refrigerant to move heat

You do have two fans going right? You said one room exhaust and one light exhaust?

How about a picture of the set up?
 
Lol I thought u were in a 11x12 but your in a 4x8..
Way too much light is ur issue. I would do 600w for both never more and try that I mean 400w is good for a 4x4 so you'd be well above the amount of light you need , you can keep the lenses on and lights closer or lenses off it's the same to me lol

When the summer hits use LEDs or 400w lights lol

If you arnt sealed growing ac will just be throwing money out the window

So its under the lights?

If so thats wrong, it should be away from all indirect or direct light.

Before anyone buys ac's and changes stuff we like to check you read air temps as accurately as i and others here.

And just to clarify for those air cooled reflectors dont make any difference to the heat radiation the plant feels so technically do not cool anything.
