Tutorials for small spaces

Hello everyone, my name is Gaz and I am new here. So first of all hello and glad to be part of the community.

I have been building a grow wardrobe that is around 1.5m tall 60cm deep and 2 meters wide. I have just popped some Humboldt seeds green crack seeds and planted them, so I expect to see them surface in the next few days.

So my only problem I can foresee is space, which can be avoided by LST and topping the plant apparently. My problem is I am finding it hard to find consistent advice or tutorials on this topic and would appreciate it if people could share advice or tutorials on keeping plants size to a minimum but keeping the yield big.

Hi there,
I'm a noob but I hope this helps.
I would say that LST or topping are a way of maximising the area receiving light or fill out the grow space. Getting a big yield will mostly be dependent on the power/efficiency of the light. More light, more bud. Of course there is nutrients and watering and other environmentals but getting good light while keeping temps low will have you winning.
I learnt a lot from watching extreme micro grows like PC grow boxes and also understanding how LST works to create more bud sites.

Thanks a lot everyone, this is really helpful. I aim to generally let it veg a bit then top it after it's 4th or 5th node, then put it into flowering. I currently have a 90W LED ufo light from prakasa. I may have to add a 300W CFL to the setup when going into budding. I would go with HPS but the heat would be an issue.

Just growing two, so there is enough space for it not to be overly stressed with LST. I will try topping it a couple of times I think and doing the mainline method. Having another issue with my seedlings at the moment, so will see if I even make it past this stage!

If you want to keep them short you absolutely must keep the light level up during vegging. 50,000 lux will keep the internodes short. You must be in flower before they are half-way to your maximum headroon as the colas will stretch during flowering quite a lot. There is nothing more heartbreaking than seeing a beautiful cola fry itself up against a CFL with nowhere else to go (er... the Cola not the CFL).

I grew in a tiny cupboard with a 600w hps.

I did not look for specific tutorial on growing in small spaces. I simply read all i could and watched every grow video i oculd find on youtube, and then just compensated based on the space difference. Everything else seemed to be no different to these guides depicting large basement rooms etc.

From trawling the forums over the years, one of the biggest issues new growers in small spaces face, is not having a clue about the suitable time to flower. seems to be the most recurrent issue, vegging it too large for the space.

U only need to ask and ur questions will b answered that's wot riu is here for amongst outher things but yes a progress report every now and again and you'll b fine and tip top is spot on most newbies including myself veg for far to long here's an example of wot not to do c pic.

Well my plants died due to using some seedling soil that had way too many nutes in. So, going to try again and this time use standard compost and add perlite and such myself.

As for keeping plants manageable....Be sure to keep more blue light very close if you are vegging with cfl's. Plants naturally grow short, and bushy if they dont have to stretch toward the light. I use a pure blue led light now throughout vegging (no more than a month) to keep internodal spacing perfect. Then I introduce the red when I flower.

Using cocogreen now, and terra soil mix. They are much happier and not dying after a couple of days :P I am actually using a 90w LED grow light currently. I will purchase 2 CFL lights next week then, one blue and one green :)
