He's broken both of those 'rules' with me, hence my lack of respect for him.

I agree that bigotry should not be tolerated, but I don't engage in it- so he's fresh out of an excuse in my case.
A little bit of ball busting once you know someone isn't a big deal, it's not the same as verbally attacking a bigot. Besides, you can be annoying with the Bernerisms. I know, you don't think that shit is annoying, but you're a Berner, of course it isn't annoying to you. For what it's worth, I think you're a nice and likable person.

He has never once insulted me or even attempted to do so. We disagree plenty but what I have seen is that he insults people who insult him or who are bigots and profer generally offensive language. If someone is clearly a bigot, he will unilaterally begin his offense and he even does so in such a way so as to give them a chance to be cool and they never are. I have seen @UncleBuck show deference to conservatives and centrists who are not offensive. I have even seen him permit a little bit of ball busting if it is tactful.

There are actually that many racists and fuckwits around that the guy is constantly having to insult them despite all this. I know because I have a very similar approach. Just a couple days ago me and @londonfog had such an exchange. He and I definitely do not see eye to eye. Yet we managed not to escalate it to polemics. The bigotry should not be tolerated.
Usually...but, I have seen him be offensive and cruel to people who didn't deserve it. Moses Mobetta for example. UB knows it to be true.

Just about every diver has that dream. Or you could combine dive resort with live-aboard sailing. Like these people have done:

It's not my dream, it's my if this than probably that. My dream is just to own a small sailboat I can handle myself. I don't need much, even a 40 year old monohull that needs a bunch of work. I already have good diving and photography gear. I would open a diveshop later in life for the social benefits. To have a bunch of backpackers around doing DM internships. To have returning customers who come to whatever island every year. Just to have a dive school where I get to be the venerable maestro. I'm sure I will later, when I decide to direct courses.

That sounds like a great life.
