Denial. The first stage of grief. Hang in there, buckaroo.
In a sense, this may turn out to be the tale of the boy who cried Wolf turned on its head.

We got’im! (nothing)
We got’im again! (nothing)
This time we got’im! (nothing)
Well now for sure! (still nothing)

Projected: We got’im this time! (something)

At this point it becomes a matter of scale. And boy howdy, that man scales like an old water heater in Minneapolis!

Trump BLOWS UP Entire Defense in Disastrous Interview

64,230 views Sep 18, 2023
Donald Trump on Meet the Press just did two things: destroyed his reasonable “reliance on counsel” defense and helped Special Counsel Jack Smith prove the required criminal intent. Michael Popok of Legal AF also takes down Trump’s attempt to rely on Federalist Society “journalist” Molly Hemingway as part of his defense.

Trump refuses to say if he watched Jan. 6 attack unfold at Capitol
Former President Trump repeatedly refused to say when pressed in an interview whether he watched the attack on the Capitol unfold on television.
In the interview that aired Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press” with Kristen Welker, Trump repeatedly declined to say whether he watched coverage of the attack from the White House and would not answer questions about what phone calls he made that day.

“I’m not going to tell you. I’ll tell people later at an appropriate time,” Trump said when asked whether he was in the dining room that afternoon watching the attack unfold on television, which several accounts from within the White House have alleged.
He also defended the statements he taped from within the Oval Office that day as “beautiful” and referred to his tweets to tell people to go home.
Several reports, however, have revealed Trump made those statements begrudgingly, and multiple people were lobbying Trump and those close to him to get the former president to issue a statement.

“Why would I tell you that?” Trump asked when questioned on whom he called that day.
And on whether he called military or law enforcement officials on the day of the attack, Trump said, “I’m not going to tell you anything.”
He also repeated his unsubstantiated claims that then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) had denied his earlier request to protect the Capitol with more troops, prompting Welker to ask why he didn’t send in help at that moment.

“Frankly, just so you understand, I assumed that she took care of it,” Trump replied, referring to Pelosi.
Trump, the runaway front-runner in the 2024 presidential GOP primary, has been indicted in four cases, two of which relate to his efforts to stay in power after the 2020 election.

It might soon be time for a Trump disqualification thread, but it could be a short one, once it gets to the SCOTUS!

If a secretary of state disqualified Trump, it would cause constitutional problems, because then only a 2/3 majority in both houses could restore them, so the courts must make the call and in a presidential race the SCOTUS. If not, some red state fanatic under Trump's command would disqualify Biden and the SCOTUS would have to invalidate it, best they and the courts make the call using civil standards of evidence. It would also be better if they disqualified Trump before the GOP primaries began, by the end of this year.

By the end of the year Trump could see his coconspirators in Georgia tried, convicted and sentenced to big prison time and they will all point the finger at him. Then he gets disqualified from the GOP primary, game over. His only option then would be to have himself written in on the ballots to prove that he was too big to jail! If he were disqualified it would be wonderful having him run around all election season causing havoc among the GOP attacking their nominee and promoting his write in candidacy! Joe would shit himself with joy and Mitch would shit a brick.

Secretaries of state are showing need for courts to rule on Trump
State election officials of both parties have declined to take Trump off the ballot, effectively shining a brighter spotlight on voter lawsuits.

Recently filed state lawsuits may be the way that we find out in the courts whether former President Donald Trump is eligible for office under the 14th Amendment. Indeed, those suits have just become even more important, with secretaries of state from both parties declining to take Trump off the 2024 presidential ballot pursuant to the amendment’s disqualification clause.

Writing in The Washington Post this week, Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, a Democrat, called it “misguided” to think it’s “up to secretaries of state to determine whether Donald Trump can ever serve in elective office again.” Whether he’s eligible to run, Benson wrote, “is a decision not for secretaries of state but for the courts.”

Benson’s deferral came after Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger also wrote to explain why he felt it wasn’t up to him, with the Republican penning a Wall Street Journal piece headlined “I Can’t Keep Trump Off the Ballot.” As my MSNBC colleague Hayes Brown pointed out, it wasn’t a great argument on Raffensperger’s part.

Whatever the merits of those secretaries’ views, they reinforce that we likely won’t get the answer to the crucial disqualification question through them.

As a reminder of what’s at stake, Section 3 of the 14th Amendment bars from office anyone who took an oath to support the Constitution of the United States but then has “engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof.”

So how will we find out the answer to the question in court, if we ever do?

I noted earlier this week that we’re closer to finding out through those state lawsuits — filed in Colorado and Minnesota — what the courts think about Trump’s eligibility following the Jan. 6 insurrection. But just because we’re closer doesn’t mean we’re going to find out the answer soon in these suits, which were filed by voters challenging the former president’s eligibility.

Whatever the answer, it may well have been more efficient to find out by way of a secretary of state keeping Trump off the ballot — if in fact they believed he was ineligible, of course.

But for now, it looks like the answer may have to come through voters themselves in these lawsuits.

Trump wrote aide’s to-do lists on backs of classified docs: report
One of former President Trump’s assistants reportedly told federal investigators Trump wrote to-do lists on the backs of classified documents, according to an ABC News report.

ABC News, citing sources familiar with the matter, reported former Trump aide Molly Michael told investigators the former president wrote requests or tasks for her on the back of notecards, which she later realized were White House documents “with visible classification markings.”

The documents were reportedly used to brief the former president about international matters and phone calls with foreign leaders, ABC News reported. Sources familiar with the matter told ABC News the notecards with classification markings were found during the FBI’s search of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate last year, but not taken by the FBI.

Michael reportedly said she went to Mar-a-Lago a day after the search and found the documents under a drawer organizer and transferred them to the FBI the same day, sources told ABC news.

According to the sources, Michael detailed to investigators her increased concerns over how Trump handled the multiple requests from the National Archives to return the documents to the White House.

The sources said Trump allegedly told Michael “You don’t know anything about the boxes,” after hearing the FBI wanted to interview his former aide last year.

The Presidential Records Act mandates all presidential materials are returned to the National Archives for preservation after the end of a White House tenure.

Trump and his team returned some of the documents after receiving a subpoena from the Department of Justice (DOJ) for the classified documents, but when the FBI executed a search warrant last year at Mar-a-Lago, investigators found hundreds of documents that were marked as classified and kept at the property beyond Trump’s tenure in the White House.

Trump initially faced 37 counts related to his handling of classified material, but a superseding indictment filed in July brought that total to 40 charges over allegations Trump attempted to delete surveillance footage at Mar-a-Lago.

Before Trump was indicted in June and then again in July, the Washington Post reported correspondence from Michael reportedly gave the DOJ and FBI investigators more evidence of possible obstruction by Trump in the federal investigation. The Post reported investigators have evidence that Trump personally looked through the materials in an apparent attempt to hold on to some materials after receiving the DOJ’s subpoena.

Imagine impeaching him for flushing non-biodegradable materials. Even while it’s far-fetched, it is a plainer infraction than what they are gearing up to impeach Hunter Biden (sic!)

this is why fact checking became a bad word to many maga. Somehow, seeking what was true was a Democrat conspiracy of some vague sort.

One of the biggest levers the populists have is to raise sentiment above reason. “Trust your gut.”
