Happy to help.....but first, my plants weren’t greening up like they should and it’s been frustrating the hell out of me UNTIL I noticed I was still using the 1-4-5 bloom fertilizer instead of the veg, which has a much higher nitrogen content. Anyway, I flushed everything last night and foliar fed them at lights out, and then this morning I gave the plants a good leaf washing to remove the fertilizer mix so no burn occurs- so topping will happen tomorrow instead of today. I’ll also root fertilized and things should be great again in just a few days. So 2 steps forward, and a step backwards here and there.

To answer your questions, when I top tomorrow I take a few before and after pics for you. I’ll just go to the main center stem and cut or pinch off the main top piece. This in turn will spread the plant hormones (auxins I think they are called) and the plant will go short and bushy and two main tops will form instead of 1.

And I do have 2 sets of pots, 1 set is 4 gallon and the other is 5 gallon. Both are around 11 inches high, the 5 gallon may be an inch or two wider across the top. If you are only growing a plant for 3-3 1/2 months, either size is fine.

I always like to send people to my Orange Gasm thread over at t h c farmer, as it was my first led grow and probably my best. I went into amazing detail, start to finish, with loads of pics and videos. I think it has almost 65000 views now, and the thread has been locked for longer than a year.

The foliar feeding definitely helped a bit…….topping tomorrow with a heavy fertilizer dose of high N.

I made gummies today, got around 50 all different sizes. Had a smaller one tonight, I‘m f*cked up.

The defoliation is just as important in the long run as it opens the plant up to more light and deeper light and next weekend I’ll highlight that too. I’m a big believer in deep defoliations for most strains, and it unquestionable can increase your yield when done correctly.

When you heavy defoliate are you cutting any of the lower branches? or mainly just fan leaves? Rods, I guess you found the gummie recipe in the Gasm thread……….. I’ve literally had 100’s of people thank me for posting that. It’s tried and true, and am happy they still knock me on my ass. These I only made with 1.5 oz.’s total- a 1/2 oz. of the orange Gasm and a full oz. of my last grow, Grandpa’s Cookies, which is nicely potent too. I took one at 1am last night and was still buzzed when I got up this morning, around 10am.

That orange Gasm thread is lIke 89 pages or something like that, so it takes a commitment to get thru It all…… regarding the defoliation, I remove any leaves that block a bud site below it. But mostly it’s sun leaves off the center stem and anything else on the large side. I’ve learned not to stress about defoliation, it’s helped me so much to grow short, and easy to manage plants. I defoliate on the first day of flowering, so it tends to shock the plants a bit and helps keep them short. Then I defoliate as necessary, removing anything thru the entire flowering period that blocks buds below.

I did indeed find your gummie recipe, I had already copied it for safe keeping.I've only ever made cookies/brownies and the amount of butter in them gets a bit much after a few and normally a good amount ends up going stale as I cant eat it. So Im definitely going to try this recipe out. Yeah that thread was like a good story in a book, at the end I couldn't wait to know your final yield haha! there really is a lot of info to absorb so I will be back to read it again. Yeah I think I need to stress less and defoliate harder for sure

So........early Wed morning, trying to decide if I want to flip the light and defoliate on Friday at day 34 in veg or wait til Sunday (so I can enjoy Kentucky Derby day on Saturday). They have some sativa in them from the diesel so I don't want them too big at the start of flowering. At the start, I'll lower the led's to maybe 22 inches to begin. The odor is noticeable already, which means it's probably going to be a stinker! Great room so far, I have very high hopes for this one.

Looking good sshz..im begining to see why defoliating is beneficial in a different way.been having problems with rh spiking when it rains.got a spike few days back up to 75% and yep you guest it got some M in there,so 2 nites back i done a heavy defol,its been raining hard and now its not going over 60 before fan on..still high but im hoovering between 45% to 60 now.im in my last couple weeks so i will b doing exactly what you do from now on.

No, I get numerous batches from the oil. I'll use the rest of the oil over 2 more times making more gummies. I got 50 gummies of various sizes this last batch, it varies between 40-50 depending on their size.

A thorough defoliation helps in many way- less places for bugs to hide, less leaves means less respiration (so less humidity), better air circulation, better light penetration, more plant energy aimed at growing buds instead of growing leaves, plants are less susceptible to light bleaching, and less areas for PM and other diseases to take hold.

I decided that tomorrow, Friday, I'll defoliate and start flowering on Saturday. It's a big process, every plant has to be taken out of the room, lollipop the lower stuff, defoliate the larger leaves, and remove any crappy looking leaves with fertilizer burn or other symptoms. Then after all 24 plants are done, I'll rearrange them tallest plants to the back, and shortest plants to the middle. It will take them a few days for them to adjust to the stress, then in a week you won't even know anything went on at all.

So they are topped, defoliation tomorrow and I’ll start flowering on Sunday. I think they’re ready to go.

Wow, geez they thickened back up fast!

Under these LED’s, its normal. They have to get 3 weeks in veg, before they really take off up top. Tomorrow is 5 weeks, on par with all my other grows. Defoliation when I wake up, then I’ll cut back the lights to 12/12, And flowering will start. This is great smoke, I’m really excited about the grow this time. Long wait til 1st week in august now……….
