So, it's been a struggle early on as the seed case did not want to separate from the seedling, at least not willingly. This often happens with certain strains or older seeds, which these are. I usually scuff them up a bit with light sandpaper if I know it's coming, as the scuffing allows better water absorption. Most are fine, a few are traumatized so I started a few Ethos "OKC" just in case..........

So I have 3 BubbleHead BX5 s in flower now...all three are seed plants with clones backed up...I am on day 54 of flower...I'm in 5 gallon fabric pots with organic soil mix using Gaia green topdressing and water...two of my plants suddenly went into cal mag crisis overnight...finally got them situated...don't wait just give them the cal mag regular...they wreak so badly and if you squeeze a bud, you cannot stop smelling your fingers...lol...about another 26 days.
I also have 1 STAT Line going too... BubbleHead BX5 x SFV BX5...Amazing plant at 24 days...it in a 5 gal fabric pot, organic soil mix and topdress with Gaia Green 2-8-4 & 4-4-4.

I cannot wait to see yours come up and along...I'll make a thread and post up some pics of mine there.

Nice........... I typically use alot of Cal/Mag anyway, since I use reverse osmosis water. I usually start slowly at 5ml, then it gets bumped up to 10ml per gallon in full veg/bloom. I watch the plants carefully for tacoing and other signs, but cal/mag usually isn't one of my issues.

"Just for the naysayers and unbelievers you should get the measuring tape out lol, just incase you hit 3 1/2 p per light."

You mean again........lol

I've been able to get 3+ lbs per LED every grow but the last one by packing the room, topping the plants, defoliating heavily and only growing heavy yielding strains. I did not top or defoliate the last grow, as I ran a test just to see what would happen. Well, 20% LESS YIELD is what the results were.

So, never again. I got this down pat, no need to experiment anymore.

How many grams per square meter do you consider a high yielding strain?

I don't approach it that way..... so I can't answer you. I'm at about 2.3 GPW in most of my grows, that's the way I measure it. In two 4 X 4 sq. ft spaces, I'm averaging 103 oz total per grow over 7 grows under these Gavita LED's. I used to get around 65-70 oz under 2 HPS in the same space. I generally read the breeders descriptions, than follow up with any grow diaries I can find on the strain. Past that, I tend to stick with a few breeders I know breed for yield and stay away from others that don't. I'm commercial, so yield first, quality second. I know I'm doing it right when a certain % of people give me shit and say I lying, cause they can't get near my numbers. LOL

My 1st six grows under the LED's can all be found over at the Farm, with details grow logs start to finish. I'm in my 37th year of growing, some on a smaller scale and other grows up to 800+ plants. I also ran an 850 acre organic farm among others things so I tend to have more experience than most of you. I started hydroponically back when, now I tend to keep things as simple as possible i.e. Pro-Mix, extra perlite and Botanicare Pure Blend Pro ferts and Cal/Mag and that's about it.

But I've perfected a style that works for me........I'll top these in a few weeks to bush them out, then defoliate the shit out of everything when I switch to flowering to allow deep light penetration. I've detailed my method in most of the grows but there's a 68 page grow diary I did on the Farm that is the most complete grow you'll ever see.....search "sshz and orange gasm" on google to find it. I think there's about 65,000 views on that sucker now.......

Nice ...I will check them all out for sure...with experience like that we would all be bound to find good info✓.

I would say 700grams per square meter is a high yielding strain

Well, yes and no.........there's more to it than just saying it produced very well. General overall plant health, length of veg time, extra long flowering period, correct temps and humidity, proper fertilizer schedule and so on......NO co2 either, just fresh air with negative room pressure. I really pack them in there, 12 plants per 4 x 4 space so I'm actually averaging slightly over 4 oz per plant and most only grow to about 3 feet high.

I've shown this before, I'm guessing. One side, packed with tops.

LOL......fuck yeah. The first 2 rows on each side are easy to get to. The back row on each side is a bit harder, but I go in low and push branches out of the way (gently). I've been hand watering this way for years and years, and I like it cause it gets me deep into the room, looking at plants and leaves, so I can catch any issues early on. It's not that bad......but in flowering, I run a dehumidifier and it dries the room out quick, so sometimes I'm actually watering daily.

I'm 66, but have been retired since I was 49 so I approach the growing as my job and spend 1/2 hour a day in there, which is actually not bad........ I do what I need to do when I need to do it. I never procrastinate, I get right on it, take care of what needs to be done, and then enjoy the rest of my day.
